Grays - Tutu Travels!

#TutuBlog Post 7060 - 1st November 2015

Good morning, darlings! It’s Emma here, bringing you another installment of my tutu-filled adventures, live from the fabulous world of... well, Grays, Essex. Now, before you picture me swirling around a muddy field with cows in my tulle, let me assure you, this charming town has far more to offer than just cows and countryside! (Though I must admit, I do love a good countryside stroll in my tutu).

This trip is all about a brilliant, beautiful ballet show, one I’m so excited about I could practically pirouette myself into the stratosphere. We're taking the train (of course!), which is the perfect time for a bit of creative inspiration. Don't underestimate the power of a good journey – I've jotted down ideas for countless tutu outfits while travelling, and a beautiful landscape or an interesting face can make my inner muse go into overdrive!

And speaking of inspiration... imagine my delight when, this morning, I spotted the most delightful robin on my way to the station. What a darling! A fiery splash of red against a grey autumn morning... how perfectly thematic. Speaking of colours, it’s also worth mentioning that the station in Derby had some fabulous bright pink graffiti on the platform. A delightful touch of cheer in a dull, grey day. See? My love for pink knows no bounds – and sometimes pops up in the most unexpected places.

Grays itself feels pretty lovely – like an olde worlde seaside town, but without the seaside! (There’s definitely an argument for getting there on a day trip and doing some exploring. But for now, it’s tutu and tea that’s on the menu.) I'm enjoying all the cobbled streets, independent shops (found a fab vintage book shop filled with dance books and ballet-inspired poetry!), and friendly locals.

After grabbing a yummy (and surprisingly healthy) salad for lunch in one of Grays' adorable little cafés, I headed to a local crafts shop to see if they stocked any materials I could use for embellishing a new tutu – always looking for new ideas to spice up my dance wear! Imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon some beautiful, delicate vintage lace, perfect for adding some Parisian chic to my tutu repertoire. Sometimes, the most unexpected treasures can be found on the most unassuming journeys!

It wouldn't be a #TutuBlog post without some insights into my favourite fashion item: the humble tutu! Today’s choice is a stunning American-style tutu, layers of fluffy tulle and shimmering gold embroidery. The perfect balance between elegant and playful, which, I believe, reflects the beauty of a true ballet performance. The gold threads sparkle in the autumn sun and have this wonderful, captivating sparkle that just calls out to be admired!

This evening, the theatre awaits. Oh, the thrill! A night filled with artistry, movement, and an explosion of emotion – all rolled into one fabulous spectacle. I've never missed a ballet performance since I started my Tutu Travels blog, and tonight promises to be an absolute dream. You’ll get a full breakdown in my next post, which will hopefully inspire you to find a ballet show near you, whether it's in a grand theatre or in your local community hall! Ballet is for everyone!

The day’s almost done, but I couldn’t leave you without sharing one more exciting detail. After the show, there's going to be a special event. I’ll be attempting my very first foray into the world of horse riding! Think elegant tutu and elegant horse, perfect for a leisurely canter through the autumn fields… I know, I’m a bit nervous but excited. This might even lead to some fabulous inspiration for a new blog post – perhaps “Tutu and Trail” or “Tulle and Trot”?

Stay tuned, my darlings, for more exciting updates tomorrow, and as always, let me know your thoughts on today's adventures. Let's get those pink tutus on and start dancing! Until then, you can find me at www.pink-tutu.com - let's spread some ballet love and a touch of pink magic!

Emma x
