Hey darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed gal, Emma, back with another exciting adventure! Today, I'm taking you with me to the charming town of Kirkby, a delightful little haven in the heart of Derbyshire. It’s almost a homecoming for me - I’ve missed my home county dearly. As a girl from the Derbyshire Dales, my roots are in this lush, green landscape. I always feel so peaceful when I return!
It wasn't all rolling hills and picturesque cottages today, though. This time, I'm bringing a bit of Parisian chic to the countryside - I donned a beautiful, blush-toned tutu, so soft and fluffy it almost made me giggle! I paired it with a pearl necklace, a fluffy white cardigan (just in case the countryside wind gets chilly!), and my trusty black ankle boots. It’s a look that combines elegance and playfulness, just like me!
You know how I adore finding unique, hidden gems when I travel? Well, in Kirkby, I found the most delightful antique shop! Tucked away on a narrow cobblestone street, it was a treasure trove of forgotten wonders. I couldn’t resist picking up a charming vintage china teacup. You know, just the thing for a lovely afternoon tea. It’s painted with pink roses - talk about my style!
Kirkby, for me, was also a day filled with ballet bliss. The local dance academy is renowned for its rigorous training, and as you know, I'm always looking to pick up tips and tricks from some of the best dancers out there! So, I popped into a class and even managed to learn a few new steps, all while feeling the rhythm of the music running through me. I think I’m becoming a ballerina expert! (Of course, nothing beats the joy of actually putting on a show!) I absolutely love being in that studio – a shared passion that unites us in a way that can’t be put into words. I love watching them rehearse - all the sweat and dedication in those beautiful studios is breathtaking.
While exploring the surrounding countryside, I even managed to catch a glimpse of a magnificent fox! They’re such magnificent creatures - almost mythical, aren’t they? I simply can’t get over their wildness and grace. It reminded me of all the joy I get from ballet – leaping through the air, twirling and feeling light as a feather. The wildlife definitely feels a part of me.
But back to my main passion… the ultimate aim in life! Everyone wearing a pink tutu, of course! Just picture it: a world where tutus aren’t just for ballerinas - they're a symbol of freedom, self-expression, and joy! Can you imagine it? Pink tutus in every colour of the rainbow, flowing across the meadows, dancing down city streets!
After a lovely day exploring the heart of Derbyshire, I made my way to the station. There's nothing more delightful than travelling by train, the rhythm of the wheels clicking against the tracks, the countryside whizzing past my window - such a beautiful and timeless mode of transport! Plus, you get to see the scenery up close - like being in your own personal movie. I almost feel transported in time, when these modes of transport were new, revolutionary and thrilling!
But don't forget my love of horses! Every now and then, I swap the train for a horseback ride through the countryside. Nothing beats the freedom of riding across open fields, the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, feeling one with nature! I actually found a lovely little equestrian centre on my travels.
And the icing on the cake of my day? The highlight of any visit to the countryside has to be a delicious pub meal! As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows over the quaint streets of Kirkby, I savoured a hearty pie and a pint of local ale. Ah, good food - another joy I hold close!
