North Shields Calling! Tutu-licious Adventures in the Toon 🩰

Post #7167 | www.pink-tutu.com | 16th February 2016

Oh, hello my lovely darlings! 👋 It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina back with another post!

Today, I'm channeling my inner "Newcastle lass" and reporting live from the vibrant and bustling North Shields. This seaside town has captured my heart with its charming cobbled streets, historic buildings, and a healthy dose of salty sea air! I just had to grab my tutu, hop on a train from sunny Derbyshire (it’s still rather nippy up north!), and see what North Shields had in store for this pink-tutu-loving ballerina.

Pancake Tutu Debut

For this trip, I've pulled out the big guns – a new, utterly fabulous, pancake tutu! Picture it: a whirlwind of fluffy, layered pink tulle, a splash of shimmering sequins, and a cute little ribbon tied around my waist. This masterpiece was inspired by a trip to a quirky bakery in town called "The Cakehole". It had the most gorgeous pancake stack I'd ever seen, and I thought to myself: "This needs to be a tutu!"

It's not everyday you get to sport a pancake tutu, darling! It turns out, people LOVE it. My walk through the town centre was like a fashion parade, and everyone was turning their heads, smiling and giving me a wave. I think I've single-handedly convinced at least half of North Shields that wearing a tutu is the way to go! 💖

A Cultural Feast

I can't visit a new town without experiencing a taste of the local arts scene. So, this evening, I'm going to see the Newcastle Ballet perform their rendition of Swan Lake. You bet I'll be rocking my pink pancake tutu to the theatre! I love that there’s something about watching a classical ballet that transports you to another time. It's graceful, powerful, and simply mesmerising – the ultimate escape!

Of course, no ballet outing is complete without a pre-show treat. Today, it's a traditional afternoon tea at a delightful tea room called "The Pretty Teacup". The scones were absolutely divine (topped with clotted cream, of course!), and the atmosphere was charming. I had a lovely chat with the lady running the place – she told me all about her love for ballet, and we bonded over our favourite tutus! I love finding kindred spirits wherever I go.

Adventures by the Sea

North Shields is right on the North Sea coast, and I’ve already fallen for its beautiful beach and spectacular coastline. This afternoon, I took a stroll along the pier and had the most delightful encounter with a friendly seagull who was just as interested in my tutu as I was in him. We shared a biscuit (although I might have ended up sharing more of my fingers than intended!). I just love the wild beauty of the coast and how it brings you closer to nature. It's an absolute breath of fresh air.

Ballet Dreams

As the sun starts to set on another amazing day, I find myself reflecting on the beauty of ballet and the incredible places it has taken me. Every town I visit, every ballet show I watch, every tutu I wear fills my heart with joy and reinforces the fact that I’m truly living my best life!

But my ultimate dream, my darlings, is to get everyone dancing and swirling in pink tutus. To create a world where every person, regardless of age, gender, or background, feels empowered to embrace the beauty of movement, art, and expression. To make ballet accessible to everyone!

It's just a tiny bit ambitious, I know. But if we all keep spreading the love for ballet, maybe, just maybe, we can make it happen. After all, there’s a dancer in all of us, waiting to be set free.

So, tell me, have you been to North Shields? Do you have a favourite ballet company or show? What makes you happy? Leave a comment below and let’s chat! ✨

Stay fabulous, my dear friends. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow holds! 💖
