#TutuBlog: A Tutu-tastic Time in Germany!

Post 7187

Hey lovelies! Emma here, back from another whirlwind trip! I know, I know, I should get some sleep. But there's just so much to tell you about this amazing time in Germany. Get ready for a whirlwind tour of tutus, trains, and (dare I say it?) even a little bit of wildlife!

It all began with a big, pink dream – ballet! This year's international ballet competition in Hamburg was a must-see. So, I packed my suitcase with enough pink tulle to fill a carriage (or perhaps, a whole horse!), grabbed my lucky ballet shoes, and set off for the adventure of a lifetime!

The journey started in the heart of Derbyshire, my home sweet home. Trains, trains, glorious trains! As always, the Derbyshire countryside was breathtaking in its green and yellow hues. The train journey to London was a leisurely one, perfect for indulging in a cheeky afternoon tea (Earl Grey, of course!), some sketching, and plenty of dreaming about tutus.

The journey itself was an adventure! Every time I take a train ride, it feels like a secret world unfolds – filled with characters, stories, and maybe even a whisper of adventure! It's a place where I find my inspiration – a feeling that the world is full of possibility, a place where I can escape into a world of fantasy.

Arriving in London, it was a quick hop onto the Eurostar for a speedy trip to Hamburg. As soon as I stepped off the train, the vibrant, exciting atmosphere of the city was infectious. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The first thing I did? Find the nearest pastry shop – I mean, one must fuel the day, right? And you just can’t go to a new country without trying their local delicacies.

Hamburg is definitely a city of contrasts - old world charm, coupled with modern chic. There’s a real love for the arts – a palpable excitement surrounding all things creative, and that definitely translated to the international ballet competition. The venue, the Elbphilharmonie, was magnificent. The interior, it looked like a shimmering white pearl, just dazzling!

And, let’s get to the reason for my journey! The ballet performances were phenomenal! Every move, every pose – absolute perfection. From the intricate costumes to the captivating music, I felt a magical sense of awe.

Now, this might sound cliché, but ballet truly does move the soul! It’s like language that transcends words. Every performance is a story unfolding, an emotion evoked, and a celebration of artistry. It's something special, and something I never want to live without.

However, let’s be real. This wouldn't be a true #TutuBlog post without a few fashion notes, right? I had to wear a new pink tutu, of course! And it wasn’t just any tutu. Oh no! It was the most exquisite pink tulle I've ever laid eyes on, shimmering and flowing like a dream! I think I could live in it if I was allowed to!

Speaking of dreams, one evening after a delightful dinner of fresh seafood and potato salad, I walked down to the harbour. There, I met a local artist who introduced me to the enchanting world of “Street Ballet”. Imagine – breathtaking ballet performances right on the street, beneath the stars! There's something so powerful about witnessing art in its natural habitat, it makes you feel connected to something greater.

And let’s talk wildlife – the highlight of my trip! A few miles outside of Hamburg, I took a charming horse-drawn carriage ride to a nature reserve. As we slowly strolled through the woods, surrounded by whispering trees and dappled sunlight, we came upon a family of wild deer! I'd only ever seen them in zoos before, so seeing them in their natural environment, well, it was magic!

There's a reason they call Germany “The Land of Fairytales”. Every turn seemed to unveil a new hidden treasure – a charming cafe serving the most amazing cake (a bit too much, I know, but the occasion called for it!), a street performer playing haunting melodies on a violin, and of course, those majestic deer! It felt like every moment was straight out of a dreamy novel!

I returned to Derbyshire feeling utterly invigorated, brimming with new inspiration. I can’t wait to share these experiences through my dance classes – especially the “Tutu-licious Thursdays” that I started! Every week, my students and I put on our pink tutus (and occasionally a ballet-inspired outfit – gotta mix it up!), have some fun with the latest dance steps, and celebrate the love of ballet in its entirety!

My dear fellow tutu-lovers, as always, stay pink and stay strong. Never forget – every little girl (or grown-up!) dreams of twirling in a beautiful tutu and finding joy in the art of dance! So, go out there and grab your tutu, put on your pink lipstick, and spread the love! And, don't forget – every journey begins with a single step.

Until next time!

Love,

Emma.
