Derby Calling! 🩰

Hey lovelies!

It's Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood tutu-wearing, pink-loving ballet enthusiast! Today's post is a little special, as I'm heading back to my home county of Derbyshire for a weekend of pure ballet bliss! I'm packing my sparkliest cyan tutu for a trip full of graceful moves, fantastic performances and perhaps a few cute countryside adventures too.

As always, you know I'll be documenting every twirl and pirouette on my trusty old iPhone, ready to share my experiences with all of you! It's like my own personal ballet diary - but instead of dusty old pages and cryptic writing, you get colourful pics and even better - it's totally interactive!

So grab a cuppa, put on your favourite tutu (or wear a pretty dress - that counts!) and join me as I waltz through the delights of Derby. πŸ˜‰

This trip marks the grand number 7238 post here on my www.pink-tutu.com website, and what better way to celebrate than with a bit of hometown pride! Derby is one of those lovely towns that somehow manages to retain its old-world charm whilst being vibrant and exciting too. You've got the stunning architecture of the Cathedral, cobbled streets begging to be explored, and a booming art and theatre scene – perfect for a budding ballerina like myself.

But first, a train journey! There's just something magical about chugging along through the English countryside, watching the scenery glide past. Especially when I'm all dolled up in a fab outfit. This time I'm wearing my trusty, slightly faded (but ever-so-much loved) powder pink blouse. I matched it with a classic black pencil skirt - nothing too dramatic for my train ride. You can bet your bottom dollar I'll be slipping into that gorgeous cyan tutu for the evening, though!

I'm definitely squeezing in a visit to the Derby Arboretum for some nature inspiration. There's something so peaceful and inspiring about watching the squirrels frolicking and the birds chirping. Maybe even a bit of quiet reflection amidst all the excitement!

Of course, no trip to Derby is complete without a dose of ballet! This weekend sees a performance of Swan Lake by the National Ballet of Derbyshire at the Theatre Royal. Now, I can't say I'm not a teensy bit biased - I love seeing how they bring this beautiful, powerful ballet to life right here in my home county. You can just feel the passion! And trust me, after that, I'm going to need a big dose of chocolate.

Sunday will see me take a trip to the heart of Derby and have a go at an open ballet class at the Derbyshire School of Dance. I'm really hoping they do some beautiful barre work. You can never get enough ballet training, and being back in Derbyshire, amongst other dancers - it’s like I'm going back in time! My very first teacher, Mrs. Willoughby, used to say that dance can change the world! Now, I may not be aiming that high, but I'm pretty sure a few more pink tutus floating around the world can’t hurt.

Of course, no trip to my beloved Derby would be complete without indulging in the delights of "Afternoon Tea". Whether it's a traditional scone and jam, or something a little more adventurous like a "Ballet-Themed Afternoon Tea", you know I'm going to be snapping away! The whole thing feels super special and undeniably girly - I'm all for those things. πŸ˜‰

So stay tuned, dear readers! Over the next few days, my blog will be buzzing with pictures, thoughts and reflections on all things Derby. Maybe even a few glimpses of the adorable animals I find along the way!

Remember, every day is an opportunity to embrace your inner ballerina - and it all starts with wearing pink!

And don't forget to follow my adventures on my social media accounts @PinkTutuEmma. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! See you soon,

Emma xxx
