Leith, Darling! 🩰

Hello, darlings! Emma here, signing in from the glorious city of Edinburgh, or more specifically, its charming port of Leith! This past weekend has been a whirlwind of pink tutus, Scottish breezes, and an absolute treasure trove of exciting experiences. Let me spill the tea, shall we?

The journey was part of the adventure, of course. I bid farewell to my Derbyshire cottage and hopped aboard a train bound for the Scottish capital. There's something so romantic about a train journey, isn't there? The gentle rhythm of the tracks, the ever-changing landscapes whizzing by... it's pure poetry in motion. And speaking of motion, what better way to celebrate reaching my destination than with a good old-fashioned ballet class?

The Edinburgh Ballet Academy welcomed me with open arms and an even more open floor. The class itself was heavenly - it was so energising and full of lovely, supportive dancers. The studio was bathed in soft light, and I felt that wonderful feeling of pure joy as I stretched, pliéed, and leapt my heart out. Oh, to dance in a beautiful studio in a stunning city! My heart sang.

Leith Loves Tutus

After class, I headed straight for Leith, a vibrant neighbourhood bursting with colourful character. The cobbled streets were lined with independent shops and buzzing with life. You know I couldn't resist adding to the vibrant scene with my very own touch of pink, darling! It just feels right, you see? A splash of colour to brighten even the greyest of days. My tutu of choice this time was a sassy number I snagged from a German vintage shop, featuring an elegant tiered design and an abundance of pretty frills - absolutely perfect for a promenade through Leith!

My aim, my darling? To inspire! And how better to inspire than with a pink tutu, eh? Let’s be real, what’s not to love?

Leith itself seemed to appreciate the pink, too. It's a haven for art and culture, brimming with charming cafes and captivating art galleries. I spent an afternoon browsing local shops and sipping coffee while sketching my inspiration, watching the locals and enjoying the colourful hustle and bustle. Let’s just say that pink definitely has a place in Leith.

A Ballet Evening

The real treat, however, was the performance I was lucky enough to catch at the Edinburgh Playhouse! Oh my, darling, the artistry and skill of those dancers left me breathless! I swear, they danced through the air like ethereal beings. Every twirl, every leap, was a marvel. The music was breathtaking, the costumes breathtaking - and I mean, honestly, there's nothing better than being completely mesmerised by a live performance. I left the theatre buzzing with a contagious sense of joy and creative inspiration.

The icing on the cake was an impromptu street performance by some talented dancers who brought Leith’s harbourfront to life with their powerful moves and upbeat music. I just had to snap a few pictures of them in action for my Instagram, of course! It truly goes to show that ballet is not confined to a stage or a studio, it can be a way to share joy with the world - just like pink tutus!

My Favourite Place

This weekend in Leith was a testament to the fact that happiness is truly a journey, not a destination. Each day was packed with beautiful sights, captivating sounds, and moments of pure joy. And wouldn't you know it, I discovered another new favourite spot, darling. The shores of the Firth of Forth. A magical, serene place filled with the gentle roar of the waves. I had a picnic with some freshly picked wildflowers from a field overlooking the water.

While I enjoyed soaking up the picturesque views, I noticed a beautiful white owl gliding silently over the water, its silhouette etched against the sky. That, darlings, is my definition of magic - a pink tutu in a Scottish harbor, with an owl soaring overhead! I mean, could it be any more charming? I swear, it almost felt as if my heart could burst with happiness.

The Tutu Chronicles Continue

I have a confession to make, darlings. My heart yearns for another dance class, perhaps even another tutu-inspired escapade! Maybe a trip to a Scottish Highlands dance festival, or maybe I’ll stay local and take a few lessons from the Edinburgh Ballet Academy - we shall see. One thing’s for certain, my journey to inspire the world to dance in pink tutus is just getting started!

So, as I prepare for the next exciting chapter of this fabulous adventure, I leave you with this: Dance like nobody's watching, and never be afraid to let your pink flag fly!

Until next time, my dear followers,
