Cleethorpes: Pink Tutu Adventures in a Seaside Town

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballet enthusiast, and today's adventure is coming to you from the breezy seaside town of Cleethorpes! As this is post number 7398 (woohoo!), I thought it was only fitting that I celebrate by wearing a new addition to my tutu collection - a glorious, wide pink tulle creation, just bursting with that 'can-do' spirit.

I adore travelling to new places, and today's journey started with a vintage, charming train ride from Derby. I can’t help but feel a thrill of excitement when I watch the world rush by from my window, the fields a blur of greens and browns, as I head towards the sea.

Cleethorpes, for those who haven't had the pleasure, is a lovely seaside town. Its main promenade is lined with pastel-coloured beach huts that scream "summertime fun," with the scent of saltwater and fish and chips dancing in the air. The charming Victorian architecture adds a touch of elegance to this vibrant seaside setting, reminding me of some of my favourite ballet costumes.

After a lovely walk along the seafront, I indulged in a delicious cream tea in a charming café with stunning sea views. They even had little pink macarons (the colour, obviously!) which, I think, I can safely say, completed my day!

As always, a ballet performance couldn’t be missed during my adventures, so I decided to venture to a beautiful, historic theatre a short walk away from the promenade. It was an old-fashioned beauty, complete with plush velvet seating and charming decorations. It felt like stepping back in time to the golden age of ballet, which for me, meant absolute bliss.

The performance was a charming mix of ballet classics and more modern interpretations, showcasing the extraordinary talent of some of the local dancers. I'm constantly inspired by the grace and strength of ballet dancers - each delicate plié and soaring jump filled me with admiration. You could say they were dancing like a flock of pink flamingos, if they wore pink tutus, of course!

In between ballet delights, I indulged in another delightful activity that I often find myself gravitating towards during my adventures - a walk along the beach! The shore was covered in smooth pebbles and sparkly shells, each unique and precious like a glittering ballerina's ornament. There were even tiny crabs scuttling amongst the seaweed. A tiny glimpse of the natural world can be such an unexpected and welcome joy in a day!

Speaking of the sea, what better way to experience its beauty than with a ride on a graceful white horse along the beach? The cool air rushed through my hair as I rode along the golden sand. For me, it was a wonderfully symbolic representation of the freedom and passion I find in ballet, allowing my mind to wander like a ballerina twirling through the air.

However, there’s one particular image that I can’t wait to share - a stunning sunrise over the glistening waters. The sky exploded with a vibrant burst of pink, orange and purple hues - just the perfect way to end my day in Cleethorpes, and an unexpected nod to the color of my beautiful pink tutu!

This is my hope for you, my lovely readers. It’s my belief that a pink tutu should never be restricted to just the theatre or studio! Just like the sunrise I witnessed, life is a performance – a stage waiting to be danced upon with joy, energy, and above all, the most dazzling of colours! And a pink tutu can help make all this happen!

So, I leave you with this message: wear your pink tutu with pride! Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, dance with joy! It’s the pink-tutu promise – a call for spreading happiness and sparkle through the simple act of moving freely and unapologetically!

Love and light,

Emma xx
