Pontypridd Calling! (Post 7441)

Hey darlings! It’s your girl Emma here, and guess what? I’m on the road again! I swapped the Derbyshire Dales for the valleys of Wales this time, taking the scenic route by train of course – who needs a car when you’ve got gorgeous scenery and comfortable seats? Speaking of comfortable, I did not leave the pink tutu at home – that would be a crime against fashion, don't you think? It's a feather tutu this time, a fluffy little cloud of pink, just perfect for this chilly November weather.

I know what you're thinking – a tutu in Pontypridd? What’s that all about, Emma? But hear me out! You see, I’m all about pushing boundaries, spreading the love of ballet and making a statement, one twirl at a time. And Pontypridd was calling, especially after hearing whispers about the amazing ballet street performance happening this weekend. Let’s just say it lived up to the hype – dancers spilling onto the streets, elegant moves amidst the shopping crowds, even a couple of cheeky spins around a street lamp – it was fantastic! I even saw a cheeky chappy wearing a tutu in response. He wasn't pink, but he was brave! I might just give him a little shoutout on social media, he’s a legend.

Speaking of social media, I need to talk about these gorgeous pink ponies I met! The lovely lady who runs a horse-riding centre in Pontypridd invited me along to the stable and I swear, these magnificent creatures knew I was a ballet girl at heart! They were so calm and graceful, and they definitely weren't afraid of my flamboyant pink tutu! (Although I suspect I'd get kicked if I tried to do a pirouette in the stables!)

Afterwards, we hopped on their most beautiful grey gelding for a canter along the valleys. The wind in my hair, the feeling of the horses' muscles rippling beneath me, the view…it was simply divine. I've already made plans to visit them again and maybe, just maybe, they might be the star of a future post. Just imagine a picture perfect ballet photo shoot with these gentle giants!

Speaking of future plans, tomorrow’s the day I've been waiting for! Pontypridd’s annual ballet show is taking place in the beautiful local theatre – they are showing The Nutcracker, one of my favourite ballets! This is the type of event that makes all the travelling worthwhile, getting to see other ballet enthusiasts, sharing the joy of ballet with like-minded souls. And, if you can believe it, I'm already thinking of what tutu to wear! The decision will be hard though – should I go for a classic sparkly number or maybe a fiery red with sequins? What do you think?

Of course, this journey wouldn’t be complete without a little sightseeing and local indulgence. Yesterday, we went to see this quaint, historic church nestled in the centre of town - it’s called St Catherine's Church. It’s got this magical, peaceful feeling that makes you feel calm and collected - a bit like ballet, if you think about it! Then, later, we indulged in a delicious Welsh tea (I can never resist a good cream tea) at a cosy little café called "The Tea Room" - their pink velvet booths are so chic! And who knew a pink tutu would match so well with a Victorian style interior? (It was pretty cute.)

It's days like these that I live for! The feeling of travelling and getting lost in new places, the beauty of seeing how others live, all with the comforting feeling of pink tutu hugging my hips and a smile on my face - that's the life for me! If there's anything I’ve learnt this trip, it's that everyone deserves a moment of grace and a good dose of pink – and what better way to experience both than with a little bit of ballet?

Until next time, darlings. Remember to check out www.pink-tutu.com every day for new adventures!

With love, Emma.
