Kendal Calling: Tutus, Trains, and a Touch of Pink

Hello my darlings! It's Emma, and today I'm writing from the heart of the Lake District - Kendal! I feel like a child let loose in a sweetie shop. Every cobbled street is an Instagrammable dream, and the mountains are calling me with their misty allure.

This trip has been all about escaping the everyday hustle and embracing a more relaxed pace. Forget rushing around in heels, today was about the crunch of leaves underfoot and a very special journey, of course - by train! I love a train journey – watching the countryside flit by and soaking up the atmosphere.

Speaking of atmosphere, have you ever been to a proper ballet festival? Well, my darlings, I have, and it was truly magical! I spent a whirlwind weekend surrounded by the grace of dancers, the drama of the performances, and, my absolute favourite part, the exquisite, the breathtakingly beautiful costumes! Oh, the tutus, the flowing silks, and the glittering rhinestones. It was pure artistry.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Emma, isn't that a bit fancy?” Well, maybe! But darling, ballet is not just about pirouettes and perfect plies. It's a language of the body, a way to express yourself without saying a word. It’s a passion, a way of life!

It got me thinking, wouldn’t it be delightful if everyone tried ballet just once? It’s such an empowering, confidence-boosting activity. Imagine the joy of twirling like a ballerina, feeling the muscles work, and simply dancing your worries away!

My heart, of course, still belongs to those exquisite tutus. I love the swish of the fabric, the way they float around me, and the touch of magic they bring to every outfit. I even took my beloved black tutu along to Kendal with me, for an adventure that you'll see on my Insta later! I know what you're thinking: "black? Not pink?" I am a big believer in the power of pink, my darlings, but sometimes, a touch of darkness is all that's needed to create an outfit that sings.

But Kendal wouldn’t be Kendal without its incredible wildlife. The mountains here are home to some of the most fascinating creatures – red deer, mountain hares, and a whole cast of adorable birds that I haven't yet managed to capture on camera. Don't worry, my photography skills are a work in progress, but who cares when nature itself is providing such beautiful backdrops?

And speaking of nature, have you noticed the incredible colours this time of year? Autumn has taken hold of the Lake District, turning every leaf into a work of art. A fiery blaze of crimson, orange, and gold. It's as though the trees themselves are dressed up in the most extravagant costumes – truly, a testament to nature’s artistry!

You know, it’s amazing how a change of scenery can really get the creative juices flowing. So, my darlings, keep those tutus dusted off, put on your pinkest lipstick, and go explore the world, whether it’s by train or by horse (my new favourite mode of transport!), and remember to embrace the joy of the everyday. And never be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone – the rewards are truly worth it.

Until next time, stay pink and graceful!

Emma
