Upminster: A Tutu-tastic Day Out! π©°
Hello my lovely pink tutu followers! π
This is blog post number 7477 - I'm a little late today because, as you know, it's all about the pink tutu life, darling! I'm in Upminster for the day and wouldn't you know it, I'm having an absolute hoot! I'm obsessed with the history of ballet and theatre, so finding an independent bookshop full of dusty tomes about ballet greats has completely blown my mind! π
It was all a little bit overwhelming, I'll be honest. It's been like stepping back in time. All these old photographs of prima ballerinas in their beautiful costumes and elaborate hairstyles, and there I am surrounded by first editions of Diaghilev and Fokine's biographies. Talk about ballet dreams! β¨
Before I wandered into the bookshop though, I was in the Upminster Garden Village and took in some of the beauty. You have to be honest, for such a little place there is so much charm! Honestly, just finding somewhere to stop for a nice cup of tea with a delicious scone took an hour. But trust me, it was a good use of my time. βοΈ
As usual, the pink tutu made an appearance, and not surprisingly, garnered quite a lot of attention, some people pointing, some children waving. As if I would do anything less than dress in a glorious pink, feather-trimmed tutu! π
Before I started the day, my love for wildlife just wouldn't quit, and I ended up at the Hornchurch Country Park which was full of fascinating things. I must have spent at least an hour looking at ducks. And squirrels, darling! πΏ They are always so very cheeky! But hey, all I have to say is if I looked like a giant pink fluffy bunny in a tutu, I would want attention too, wouldn't I?! π
For lunch, it was time to get the tutu in the spirit of London's history, so I found the most perfect little vintage tearoom nestled in the backstreets. It felt as if it hadn't changed since the 1930s and the decor was out of a book! We're talking lace tablecloths, embroidered cushions, and silver teapots. And I may have had a wee bit too much cream in my Victoria spongeβ¦ I think we can all be forgiven for that in such a lovely spot! π₯°
I am a complete history geek when it comes to the English countryside. But in a way, Upminster reminds me of my lovely Derbyshire, a gentle rhythm of life with plenty of quaint charm, friendly locals, and the scent of lavender wafting from gardens. It's a world away from the busy bustle of my beloved London. And yetβ¦ it is just an hour away. And all I have to say is that there is no place more magical than when you get to take in both worlds within a single day! π
So, how does this fabulous little corner of Essex feel to me? It feels just about perfect! π€© And it's more than clear - I need to add Upminster to the pink tutu tour itinerary! π
So, here's what I've learned today:
- Embrace the power of a pink tutu. It turns every journey into a ballet class, a theatre performance, a tea party all in one. You canβt help but get smiles, waves and thumbs ups. Honestly, some of these looks have me giggling in a very, very dignified mannerβ¦ π
- Explore your surroundings, no matter how small or unexpected. A corner of Essex? Well, you can be sure a ballet enthusiast will find it magical. There's beauty in every little detail, no matter where you are in the world.
- Be ready to be a little bit adventurous. You never know what incredible moments you'll stumble upon. There's so much out there that is unknown - all you need to do is take a leap of faith, whether it's buying a second scone or trying that new ballet move in class! π
I'll be back tomorrow with another pink tutu adventure! Until then, spread the love, and most importantly, be yourself - tutu or not! π
**Always,
Emma π**
