Hastings - Tutu Adventures in the Seaside Town (Blog Post #7544)
Hey everyone,
It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm writing this from a charming little seaside town called Hastings, tucked away in the beautiful Sussex countryside. As you can probably tell, I'm already absolutely smitten! Just picturing the sunshine bouncing off the sea, the gentle scent of salty air and the quaint little shops lining the cobbled streets is making my heart flutter.
Today was all about embracing the 'whimsical' side of me. Let me introduce you to my latest tutu love, a fluffy confection of pink feathers that practically begged me to twirl. Yes, you heard that right, feathers! It's definitely a tutu for those days when you want to feel extra magical and make heads turn. Just the sight of it, piled high on my suitcase, had me giggling like a little girl.
My journey to Hastings started with a leisurely train ride from Derbyshire. The click-clack rhythm of the wheels against the track, the smell of fresh coffee from the onboard cafe and the ever-changing landscapes flitting past the window... all created that delightful feeling of adventure that always washes over me. I even managed to snag a window seat, perfect for observing the world as I sipped my tea and dreamed of my afternoon adventures.
Reaching Hastings was a treat for the senses. The station was buzzing with life, and the air carried a faint tang of the sea, which simply made me feel happy and alive! I decided to make my way to my hotel - a delightful, little B&B nestled in a quiet street lined with pastel-coloured houses. My room had a little balcony with a view overlooking a vibrant little courtyard garden. I knew right away I would be happy to simply sit on my balcony, watch the birds flutter between the blossoms, sip a cup of tea and write about the magic of it all!
Of course, the main highlight of my trip was the Hastings ballet performance, and what else did I wear but my feather tutu! It truly felt like the perfect outfit for a day at the theatre. I couldn’t resist snapping some pics with my little feather-tutu friend by the beautiful theatre building. It had that grand old lady air about it. So grand and beautiful and historic, and just begging to be twirled in!
I knew instantly as soon as I settled in my seat that I was going to be enthralled by the show. The lights dimmed, and then came the breathtaking choreography, the powerful emotions radiating from the dancers, the beautiful melodies sweeping me away… It was a sensory experience unlike anything else. Every twist, turn, leap, and delicate step filled me with awe and joy. The entire performance was a dream; it felt so good to witness so much talent, passion, and artistry all rolled into one.
And speaking of dreams… after the show, I spent a dreamy hour wandering the seaside. I couldn't resist feeling the cool sand between my toes and watching the sun paint the sky with vibrant hues of orange, pink and purple as it slowly dipped below the horizon. It felt as if the world around me had momentarily paused, and the beauty of nature unfolded like a grand performance before me.
You know, this trip was a reminder of why I love ballet so much. It's not just a form of dance; it’s an escape from the ordinary, a glimpse into a world where emotions come alive through movement. It's a story told in leaps, bounds and delicate steps that whispers to the soul.
My little Hastings escapade is slowly coming to a close, and I'm already making plans to come back again soon. I’ll have so much to tell you! And of course, my pink feather tutu will be coming along with me!
I'm signing off now. Until next time, may your life be full of pink tutus and ballet dreams!
Lots of love,
Emma
P.S. Did I tell you how amazing the fish and chips were tonight? I may have accidentally eaten double! And if you ever visit Hastings, you have to visit the gorgeous Hastings Museum & Art Gallery, housed in an absolutely beautiful building overlooking the town. It truly is a little piece of heaven, if I do say so myself!
