Altrincham Adventures in a New Tutu! (Post #7612)

Hey everyone,

It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-loving adventurer! Today's blog post is bursting with sunshine, sparkles and, of course, tutus! I've just returned from a fabulous trip to Altrincham, a charming town in Greater Manchester, and I'm buzzing with excitement to share it all with you.

This adventure started with the thrill of hopping on a train at Derby Station. The journey itself is half the fun - watching the scenery fly past and people watching in the carriage always brings a smile to my face. Honestly, who wouldn't love a journey with a bit of human theatre thrown in?!

I was so excited for my Altrincham trip. This town has a great vibe and a fantastic reputation for ballet. They've been running a brilliant outreach programme with some of the best studios in the area, making ballet accessible for everyone. It's definitely something I applaud – getting the next generation hooked on ballet is the way forward! I'm so passionate about ballet - and its the most incredible way to express yourself - why shouldn't everyone have the chance to give it a go?!

This time, I decided to step out in a brand new tutu. Think shimmering sequins, a splash of pink and a delightful little touch of lavender – you know I just adore a colour palette! And of course, I had to match my makeup with this new dazzling beauty. After all, when you're a tutu queen, everything must co-ordinate perfectly.

First stop on my itinerary was Altrincham's bustling market. I just love those open-air markets, the mix of smells and sounds, the local chatter and the endless array of wares! I wandered down stalls piled high with fruit, cheese, bread - the freshest you can imagine, and picked up a beautiful bouquet of wild flowers. It's amazing how just being around nature makes you feel so energised.

The scent of wildflowers made me think of my family's Derbyshire home, where we're blessed with wild animals, meadows full of daisies and lavender and ancient forests. They truly make my heart sing and remind me how lucky we are to be surrounded by such stunning natural beauty.

Later that day, I popped into The Altrincham Garrick, their beautiful theatre. They have a really eclectic mix of theatre and dance performances – a mix of classical and contemporary dance, and sometimes even circus! There’s nothing quite like the atmosphere of a performance in a place full of history – you really can’t beat the intimacy of a local theatre.

After my visit to The Garrick, I spent a few glorious hours exploring the local area. I was completely enamoured by the charming streets and the gorgeous Georgian houses – they were a real treat for the eyes, especially with the bright colours of spring blooming around them.

But what really captured my imagination was the Altrincham Market House. The history of this building, dating back to the Victorian era, is utterly fascinating – there’s so much drama and beauty packed into this wonderful structure, it just had me completely mesmerized! It's truly a magnificent space, brimming with architectural details and a history waiting to be uncovered.

My evening finished with a spot of supper and an inspiring conversation with local choreographer Sarah, who runs her own company, bringing the most captivating dance pieces to the local area. I loved hearing about her work and all the talented dancers who work with her. I’m thinking of sending in a proposal for my next tour – wouldn’t it be brilliant to have a full-blown ballet show right in Altrincham’s market? Just imagine a spectacular show beneath the magnificent Market House roof.

As I say goodbye to the beautiful Altrincham and my adventures there, I can't help but be completely enchanted by this town. I've returned home filled with inspiration.

I hope you've enjoyed this whirlwind tour of Altrincham with me, my darling tutu lovers! Now, go on, pop on your brightest, most beautiful tutus and spread the joy of dance! And don't forget, life is a stage, so dance your way through it.

Until next time!

Much love, Emma

xx
