Crosby Calling! (Blog Post #7614)

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger. I’m writing to you today from the glorious seaside town of Crosby, in the county of Merseyside, on the coast of glorious, glorious England! My trip here is full of tutus, seaside walks, and of course, plenty of ballet – what more could a girl ask for?

Crosby is a bit of a whirlwind this weekend as it’s a weekend full of the Crosby Flower Festival, the annual event that has locals and tourists alike getting excited with beautiful floral displays and a vibrant festival atmosphere! You’ll see a floral float parade with all its twirling and dancing, and if I'm honest, I'm really keen to get into the swing of it all myself. Who needs to be a swan when you can be a flower, right?!

You already know that pink is my ultimate favourite colour. And what better way to express my love for pink than to wear a dazzling cyan tutu? Yep, you read that right, CYAN! It’s like a vibrant blue-green and is the perfect shade for a seaside stroll. This weekend is the ideal occasion for wearing this vibrant tutu, as it is a truly captivating shade and is definitely attracting a lot of attention. The gentle sea breeze is flowing through my tutu’s tulle as we stroll along the seafront promenade, it's like it’s whispering “You are beautiful!”. Every girl should own a vibrant tutu, it makes you feel like you're floating on air.

Speaking of the seafront, oh my goodness! This coastline has some amazing beaches and beautiful seashells just waiting to be found. Today I discovered a small, white shell with a pearl-like interior, just sparkling with shimmering flecks. It was such a magical discovery. You might be wondering how I got to Crosby, and for this trip, I chose to hop on a glorious train! Train journeys are so romantic and offer a glimpse into different places, it allows me to truly immerse myself in the journey. I spent my time watching the countryside speed past and was particularly taken by a gaggle of geese crossing a field. What elegant creatures!

And guess what? The main reason I'm here in Crosby, aside from the incredible views and the amazing festival vibe? This lovely coastal town is home to the iconic Anthony Gormley sculptures! The “Another Place” installation is a sight to behold! 100 life-sized iron figures standing in the sea are an inspiring display of art that has so much to offer - from the reflection of the sky in the metal to the ever-changing forms they create when the waves roll around them. If you ever visit Crosby, make sure you take a walk along the beach, especially at low tide when the figures seem to rise out of the sea like mystical creatures.

Now, as if this weren't exciting enough, let me tell you, this trip is bursting with dance inspiration! Right by the promenade, there is a lovely local ballet school that teaches classic and modern ballet styles, and guess who’s going to sign up for a class? This little ballerina, right here! My trip to Crosby is proving to be an adventure full of unexpected surprises and inspiration, much like life itself!

After my dance class, I headed back to my cosy hotel room and switched on my laptop. It's time to write about all the wonderful moments of the day, capturing them in words, and bringing a bit of the Crosby magic to you, my lovely readers. I hope that I am inspiring you all to take up ballet and to wear tutus in fabulous shades of pink!

Remember, life is a beautiful dance, embrace it, wear it proudly!

Love,

Emma xx
