TutuBlog Post #7752: Belfast Bound, Purple Dreams & Tutu Magic

Hello darlings! It's your favourite Derbyshire lass, Emma, back with another fabulously pink and perfectly twirly post! Today, we're hopping aboard the magic train to Belfast! That's right, my little ballerinas, I'm heading for a weekend of dance delights in the land of green hills and emerald waters. I've been dreaming of exploring Belfast ever since I saw pictures of the iconic Titanic Belfast museum - all that glorious history! And, of course, it wouldn't be a true TutuBlog trip without a dance twist!

My luggage is overflowing with tutus, naturally. You can't go anywhere without a good tutu selection, you see. This time, though, I've packed something special! A gorgeous, deep purple tutu that has been calling my name for weeks now. The colour is just divine - perfect for my Northern Ireland adventure!

The train journey, as always, is an absolute joy. The landscapes outside the window are so calming and beautiful, perfect for pondering the finer points of pliés and relevés. The rhythm of the wheels clicking on the track feels like a delicate beat, encouraging my feet to tap in time. I've got a whole book of ballet scores playing on my iPod, getting me prepped for all the dance adventures ahead!

When I arrive at Belfast's grand central station, I am blown away. It's such an elegant, beautiful space, with its intricate details and grand arched ceilings. Even the waiting rooms feel elegant and comfortable, almost as if you could stage a performance in there. They wouldn't be able to accommodate all the amazing dancers I envision, though - I've already been sketching my dream scenario, featuring a stunning chorus of Belfast locals all decked out in pink tutus, dancing through the station in perfect synchronicity.

After a swift cab ride through the streets of Belfast, I find myself in my charming little hotel, where the atmosphere is just the right mix of chic and cosy. A small pot of fresh lilies sits by the window, a touch of feminine charm. Of course, I couldn't resist whipping out my trusty portable barre! The purple tutu makes its debut in the hotel room, perfectly mirroring the lovely purple blooms. I dedicate my mini practice session to the memory of one of my favourite dancers, Margot Fonteyn. She always encouraged aspiring dancers to embrace every opportunity to dance, even if it's just in your own room!

Belfast is so much more than just the history and charm; it's bursting with vibrant life! This city loves its music, its culture, and its dance! My schedule is crammed with delightful ballet events, from the grand theatre performance at the Lyric, featuring a beautiful production of "Giselle," to an electrifying performance of Ballet Street's modern adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet." Every step in Belfast seems to take me closer to some new discovery, like the magnificent mural of Van Gogh's "Starry Night," transforming a dull wall into a breathtaking masterpiece.

But of course, the highlight of my trip is a private ballet class with a legendary instructor. I love trying new things and learning new skills - my inner tutu fairy simply loves the challenge. It's a challenge worth every bit of my dedication. As I stretch my legs into an arabesque and pirouette my way across the floor, I feel the warmth and welcoming nature of this charming city radiating outwards.

There's also time to explore Belfast's magnificent botanic gardens - they're filled with vibrant blooms, just like my pink-hued soul! The colours are just a symphony of happiness. Every time I see a vibrant colour I am transported back to my youth - my grandma's house, surrounded by bright flowers, while I wear a tiny pink tutu, dancing for her in the summer sun.

Even the food here is positively delightful - there's an old-fashioned tea room, perfect for a cream tea and a spot of "tutu time." Every cup of tea feels like a little hug of joy - and every scone makes me think about all the dancers who have inspired me! Of course, I had to sample Belfast's famous mussels, a perfect culinary symphony!

I spent some time with some of Belfast's most inspiring artists, the "street artists." You could see the creativity bubbling everywhere. Their bold and vibrant murals transformed grey city walls into canvases bursting with colourful life! A few even tried their hand at painting tutus! I wouldn't call it a success - but they did try, and that is all that matters!

On the way to the famous Giant's Causeway, where I imagine the giants must have practiced their leaps and twirls across the volcanic stones, I took a breathtaking ride on horseback through the rolling hills. It’s as if the horse itself was dancing in a graceful gallop! We reached the famous Giant's Causeway, with its dramatic rock formations. For a moment, it almost felt like a theatrical set. Every view was worthy of a ballet finale, the magnificent Northern Ireland coastline a stage to behold.

Back in Belfast, it's time to put my dancing shoes on and embrace the final night in this glorious city. A performance at the Grand Opera House is the perfect way to close out my adventure, and the energy inside the theatre is just contagious.

I’m leaving with a heart full of happiness, a mind full of ideas, and a tutu overflowing with memories! The purples and pinks of my wardrobe are merging seamlessly with the city's beautiful shades. I am ready to share my adventures with you and, who knows, perhaps this purple tutu may be making an appearance in a future performance, even in Derbyshire!

And just remember, my dearest Tutu-ettes: it's always a good time to twirl! Whether you’re on the train, in your own home, or taking in the magic of Belfast. Dance like there's nobody watching!

Until next time, dance on and wear pink!

Love,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
