Blackpool Calling! Tutu-ing Around the Seaside (Post #7775)
Helloooo darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite tutu-clad traveller, and I'm so excited to share my latest adventures with you! I've swapped the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the salty air of Blackpool, and trust me, I've packed a whole lot of pink and sparkle to make this seaside trip one for the books.
Blackpool, you say? What on earth could a tutu-wearing ballerina like myself possibly be doing in a seaside resort town, you might ask? Well, let me tell you!
My adventures started, of course, with a train journey - my absolute favourite way to travel. I dote on those quaint carriages, with the rhythmic rumble of the wheels and the chance to watch the scenery blur past the windows. My tutu swished with the wind as I dreamed of the day I might actually own a carriage of my own, drawn by a handsome white stallion. Maybe one day, eh?
When I arrived in Blackpool, I couldn't resist a walk along the promenade, the wind tousling my hair and the sun kissing my cheeks. You can always tell when a proper British summer is about to begin – when Blackpool’s streets are lined with buckets and spades. This iconic destination has been around for over 150 years and the unique spirit and Victorian architecture continue to delight to this very day.
I couldn't leave Blackpool without paying homage to the iconic Blackpool Tower, that incredible marvel of engineering! As a lover of all things whimsical and fantastical, it's safe to say I was completely spellbound by its grandiosity! Climbing its lofty heights felt like a fairytale journey – gazing at the endless stretch of the seaside from up there, it felt like I could dance my way across the entire county!
As you know, I love a good ballet performance. Thankfully, there’s something to see in Blackpool, not just the traditional holiday entertainment that you find all around the resort but, something with a real artistic flavour too. They’re showing a very special production of The Nutcracker at the Grand Theatre in Blackpool which will run throughout December. I can't wait to be in the audience to see the classic tale come to life on stage! It will be such a delight to witness the breathtaking artistry and elegance of these talented dancers. Imagine, pirouettes against the backdrop of the spectacular seaside town of Blackpool – a magical scene if ever there was one!
As for the rest of my adventures, well, let's just say that Blackpool has surprised me with its charm and character. The energy of this vibrant place, bustling with laughter and the scent of sea salt and fried fish and chips, just invigorates my soul. Even a seaside walk has turned into a ballet for me - a graceful swirl, a pirouette with the salty wind in my hair. The only thing missing is a dashing companion – but one can dream, can't one?
I did have to try the infamous Blackpool rock! It came in a beautiful vibrant pink colour, naturally. I have to admit it tasted far better than it looked - and that's a challenge when something's been dipped in so much pink! It is definitely the pinkest seaside resort in England. The moment I arrived in Blackpool, it was like being whisked away into a whimsical candy wonderland - every corner buzzing with candy-colored shops, funfairs, and even an enormous pink flamingo!
Now, I know some of you are still questioning why on earth I’ve brought my tutu on this trip to the British seaside. Well, darlings, let me tell you! It's about making a statement, pushing boundaries, and proving that a pink tutu is never out of place. When you're walking down Blackpool promenade, you'll never look out of place in a tutu. What could be more daring than that?
Don’t you worry, my dearest readers. You will find loads more about my escapades, right here at pink-tutu.com.
It’s off to a very special performance of The Nutcracker this evening and to meet with my friend Jane - who is in Blackpool visiting her mother. As soon as I get the chance I’ll pop back to share some images and thoughts on my new tutus, with my readers. Until next time, darlings! And remember, there's a ballerina in us all, waiting to bloom! Keep it twirling and stay gorgeous!
Bisous! Emma xx
