Bath, Baby! Pink Tutu Edition (Post #7798)
Hello darlings! Emma here, bringing you the latest from my pink-tastic life - and this week, it's all about Bath! I'm so excited to share this beautiful city with you.
I've always loved Bath. It's just so picturesque, like something out of a Jane Austen novel, except a lot less prim and proper, with my fabulous pink tutu making a definite statement amongst all those Regency ladies. 😉
Speaking of statement-making, let's talk about my journey to Bath. Did I hop on a train, a delightful way to enjoy the countryside? Did I maybe get whisked away on a carriage, with the wind whipping through my hair as I dreamily gazed at the rolling hills?
Nope.
This time I rode... a HORSE! Yep, you heard right. My fabulous friend Lily, who always seems to have the most extraordinary adventures up her sleeve, insisted on bringing along her gorgeous chestnut mare for the trip. Talk about a dramatic entrance into the heart of Bath, right?
It wasn't quite as glamourous as I'd imagined – my tutu definitely got more mud on it than I’d hoped, and I have to confess I was slightly scared when I had to mount her on my own, but the feeling of the wind on my face and the exhilarating rhythm of her hooves was totally worth it. I have a feeling this won’t be the last time I ride in!
Once I'd managed to dismount safely, I quickly whisked myself to the Pump Room. You simply have to try their Bath Olivers (the real ones, mind you!), and the whole experience feels utterly magical – the light streaming in, the beautiful architecture, the elegant ladies sipping their water, it’s truly magical.
Then, onto the streets, with my camera snapping madly. I had to capture the Roman Baths, of course. Seriously, guys, this is history coming to life, and so fascinating! I imagined all those people, two thousand years ago, taking a bath. I mean, think about it! So ahead of their time, don’t you think? But wouldn't it be nice to get some more modern facilities there? Maybe a changing room with a comfy pink velvet armchair for my tutu? Just a thought…
I was also enchanted by the cobbled streets, the independent shops, the street musicians playing lively tunes (I'm starting to learn a few steps on my own!), the laughter, the atmosphere. Bath truly is a city where you can just wander, letting the charm of the place take you where it wants to take you.
But a true dancer never stays stationary for long! So, I was excited to check out the Bath Dance Studio. They hold workshops, courses and performances. You know me - any chance I can spin and leap, I'm there. And I met this incredible group of local ballet dancers who are also in their 20s - it’s amazing to know there are so many young people dancing their hearts out!
And naturally, a day in Bath wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Theatre Royal. It's truly breathtaking! The ornate décor, the history etched into every detail - and don't even get me started on the performance we saw: "The Nutcracker," brought to life by a wonderful troupe of young dancers. I've been twirling and leaping like crazy ever since! They inspired me so much – I just had to dance after seeing them.
And that brings us to the final stop of my day – The Royal Crescent. This is a beautiful curve of luxurious, honey-coloured houses built in the 1760s. Imagine living here! Oh, the parties, the elegant dinners, the waltzes in the ballroom. But I have to be honest, it doesn't have the same feel as the cobbled streets of Bath city centre – those places hold so much more energy! So, I was quite glad to have found a quiet park bench under the old trees by the Royal Crescent, and finally had the time to stop, breathe deeply and enjoy the stillness of the evening.
That's it for Bath this time. This is definitely a place I could spend weeks exploring. I have to admit, I’ve become a bit obsessed with history lately, which isn't exactly usual for a girl in a pink tutu!
But that's the thing about ballet - it connects us to all the ages, across cultures and places, allowing us to move, laugh and learn. And maybe even inspire a few people to try something new! So tell me, are you up for a dance challenge this week? Try a local ballet class, experiment with a graceful arabesque or even just wear a pink tutu! Let's spread the joy and love of movement together.
Now, back to Derbyshire. I wonder if I can squeeze my pink tutu into my suitcase…? Oh, and did I mention I spotted the most adorable pair of deer on my journey back? I'm totally a city girl at heart, but I have to admit there's something magical about nature too. Just imagine, wearing my pink tutu as I waltz through the woodland… I might just give it a try next time!
