TutuBlog #7826: Burton upon Trent & A Tutu-tiful Adventure
Hello my lovely tutu-wearers! Emma here, your favourite pink-loving ballerina, back with another TutuBlog entry. Today, I’m waltzing into a new adventure – Burton upon Trent, a town nestled in the heart of Staffordshire. It might sound a little unusual for a Derbyshire girl like me to venture out to the neighbouring county for a day trip, but there’s always an exciting adventure to be found!
And you know what’s even more exciting? This journey involves a whole lot of tutus. 😉 Remember that vintage, floral print tutu I picked up at that cute little vintage shop in Matlock Bath? Well, it’s been patiently waiting for its grand entrance, and Burton upon Trent was the perfect stage.
Let’s rewind to my morning: after a sunrise yoga session, fuelled by a mountain of pink frosted doughnuts (because it’s all about that sugary energy!), I got ready to greet the day in my best ballerina gear. The floral tutu with its swirling pastel colours, a soft, powder-pink crop top, and some sparkly ballet shoes. Because every day is a chance to twirl into something fabulous, right?
A Journey On The Iron Horse
It’s always an adventure getting around in the Peak District. Trains aren't as common as they are elsewhere, so my trip was via a classic, black vintage-style train with a comfy, leather-cushioned seat. As I sat looking out of the window, a grey squirrel dashed across a path next to a quaint old station building. A real life 'Nutcracker' scenario, don't you think? That little critter had an air of mischief, almost as if he were ready to join me in a waltz.
After a scenic, sunlit ride, I reached Burton upon Trent. The town was full of life: cobbled streets teeming with local shops and cheerful people enjoying their day. The air had a wonderful aroma, probably from the famous beer that Burton is famous for – which reminded me that after all the tutus and twirling, I’ll have to treat myself to a little celebration drink.
The Tutu & The Town
Of course, it was impossible to walk through the town without having a little impromptu dance session. My floral tutu, billowing around me as I glided through the centre of the town square, must have caused a little stir amongst the locals, who looked on with a mix of amused smiles and curious stares. A couple of youngsters, clearly inspired by my pink tutu-wearing confidence, even joined in for a quick pirouette! It felt magical, and in that moment, I realised this is what life's all about - spreading joy and creating a moment of sheer whimsical bliss for strangers.
Burton's Hidden Treasures
My journey into Burton included a detour into the National Brewery Centre. It's amazing how you can discover a real history and heritage in an unexpected place, right? And the history of Burton beer goes back to the 1800s. There was so much to see, I almost lost track of time. It’s like a glimpse into the past and a tribute to craftsmanship. But what’s a little brewery visit without some local ale, you might ask? A sip of Burton’s finest was a fantastic reward!
Next, a trip to the town’s fascinating and charming library, which was a haven for literary love! It’s the perfect place to lose yourself in stories and discover some forgotten gems amongst the stacks and shelves. The sound of books rustling is an intoxicating sound.
Inspiration Aplenty
Walking the streets of Burton upon Trent felt like stepping back into a charming picture-postcard world, brimming with Victorian character. I found myself utterly enthralled by its historical architecture, which served as a backdrop for some impromptu photoshoots. It really added to the fun of the day! As I posed in the floral tutu with the quaint shopfronts as my background, the streets seemed to whisper stories of generations gone by. Who knows what tales those buildings have seen over the years?
There was even an elegant little horse-drawn carriage. The horses were elegant creatures – so sleek and majestic. A little like my ballerina aspirations, come to think of it. It seemed appropriate that such magnificent steeds were pulling the elegant carriages. This was definitely the type of transportation a real-life fairytale princess would use – or at least a very fancy ballerina with a serious passion for pink!
Tutu Time for a Twirl
There’s something undeniably enchanting about putting on a tutu, regardless of where you are in the world. The feeling of twirling under the Burton upon Trent sunshine made it all the more magical. A soft breeze tousled my hair and my pink tutu, which made my day. It was a perfect moment that made the journey feel all the more worth it!
There was also a little secret I found in Burton upon Trent – the beautiful little walled garden nestled beside a Victorian town square. This serene oasis, surrounded by ancient walls, felt like a secret paradise in the bustling town centre. It felt like the ideal setting to get lost in the poetry of dance, spinning stories through my graceful moves.
Of course, the final highlight of my day was watching the breathtaking beauty of the ballet. It’s hard not to feel inspired by dancers’ effortless grace and the magic they create. It was as though the world was hushed while they glided, leaped and danced, and for that hour, it was the only thing that mattered. And it all felt so much more captivating, knowing I'd twirled my way there!
A Tutu-ful Reminder
This trip has been a beautiful reminder to me that the world is brimming with unexpected beauty and magical experiences. Whether I’m at the heart of the Peak District or venturing into a town in a neighbouring county, my tutu always leads me to some delightful adventure.
Remember, the best kind of fashion is one that makes you smile and feel confident, whether it’s a pink tutu or anything that sets your soul on fire. And never let anyone tell you that life is too short to twirl, especially with a fabulous, pink tutu!
Stay twirling,
Emma.
