Hello my gorgeous ballet bunnies! It's Emma here, writing to you from the charming town of Bishop Auckland, nestled amongst the rolling hills of County Durham. As a Derbyshire girl at heart, I've always been drawn to the countryside, and the air here is just crisp and fresh! Plus, there's something magical about stepping away from the hustle and bustle of London life (which, as you know, is where I spend most of my days), even if it’s just for a weekend.
I've been yearning to share some of the magic of Bishop Auckland with you all. It's the kind of place that inspires creativity – a beautiful mix of history, art, and nature. You wouldn't believe the stunning architecture, especially the magnificent Bishop Auckland Castle, which dates back centuries. Honestly, it's like walking into a fairytale. I swear I heard a unicorn snorting just off to the side in one of the grand gardens!
A Tutu-ful Fairy Tale:
To celebrate this beautiful location, I, of course, had to wear a tutu! And this time, I felt particularly inspired to wear my pink fairy tutu. It’s the one with all the delicate lace and sparkling sequins. It felt perfectly fitting for the castle's grounds – I felt like I was swirling through a secret, whimsical garden. It's all about channeling that inner fairytale princess, isn't it?
And oh my gosh, can I just rave for a moment about how dreamy it is to wear a tutu in the countryside? The gentle breeze, the vast fields, and the warm sunshine create such a peaceful, enchanting atmosphere. It’s truly a feeling like no other – like you can dance freely amongst the flowers and trees without a care in the world! I honestly can't recommend it enough. If you’re even slightly tempted, just go for it. You won’t regret it, I promise.
More Than Just A Tutu:
Speaking of "going for it", remember my goal, darling? I want to spread the love of ballet everywhere I go! It's not just about beautiful tutus and perfect pointe shoes – it's about passion, grace, and the feeling of absolute joy that comes from moving your body in a way that is both challenging and empowering. It’s not about perfection, it’s about embracing your inner child and having fun.
This weekend, I actually managed to squeeze in a ballet class at the fabulous Bishop Auckland Ballet Studio! Let me tell you, I had an amazing time. It’s great to be surrounded by other people who share my passion. And, let’s be honest, it doesn’t hurt to learn from talented teachers who can really guide you to your next level.
Riding Through The Meadows
No trip to the countryside would be complete without some horseback riding, so naturally, I found myself at a stunning local riding school just outside the town. Honestly, there’s something incredibly romantic about riding a horse through the meadow! The wind in your hair, the sun on your face…it really makes you feel completely free. And, of course, the scenery was utterly breathtaking!
I'm still in awe of the whole experience. It felt like I’d been transported back in time. Imagine being a 19th century ballerina, riding side saddle through the beautiful English countryside, wearing a fabulous pink tutu! You know, maybe I should invest in a velvet riding habit next…
Wildlife & Wonder
Bishop Auckland truly has something for everyone, and for me, that includes a love for nature! On my stroll through the beautiful town centre, I happened to see the cutest little hedgehog sniffing out dinner. The creatures here are so friendly!
Later, I explored the glorious deer park at Bishop Auckland Castle and saw some majestic fallow deer! (You guys already know how much I love deer – their graceful movements are so inspiring).
If you're ever in the North East of England, I strongly suggest a visit. Bishop Auckland is just the perfect little spot to unwind, get some fresh air, and rediscover your inner fairy! I'm already dreaming about coming back soon.
