Oxford Calling! 🩰🍰🍭 (Post #8028)

Hello lovelies! It’s Emma here, and today I'm stepping out of my Derbyshire comfort zone and onto the historic cobblestones of Oxford!

I'm so excited to be exploring this beautiful city and sharing it with all of you! And let me tell you, Oxford didn't disappoint. The moment I arrived, I felt like I'd stepped back in time, surrounded by centuries of history and learning.

But, of course, I wasn't just here for the historical vibes! Today's adventure is all about celebrating my love for… food!

Because, darling, what's life without a bit of culinary indulgence? It's all part of embracing a beautifully balanced lifestyle. Right? 🍰

This is where my pink tutu comes in! Not the usual ballerina costume, but a super whimsical confection, spun from the most delicate silk and embellished with miniature sugar roses and swirling strawberry icing. (I swear, I almost took a nibble myself!) It’s an ode to my sweet tooth and a delightful twist on classic ballet wear! 🩰✨

Speaking of sweet, I had to try Oxford’s famed Bodleian Library - not just for the books, but for their legendary afternoon tea! Oh my goodness, you wouldn't believe the variety of finger sandwiches, cakes, and scones – I was in heaven. It was almost like I had been whisked away to a fairy tale! And don't even get me started on the tea! Perfectly brewed with fragrant, floral notes, it was the ideal complement to all the sugary goodness.

Feeling energized after all that indulgence, I decided to take a little stroll along the River Thames, enjoying the beautiful scenery and the sweet scent of the cherry blossom trees.

Now, while you might be thinking, “Emma, isn't this a little too frivolous for a day out in Oxford?” Well, to that I say, nonsense!

A true ballerina always appreciates the finer things in life. It’s all about elegance, refinement, and, of course, a sprinkle of whimsy! It's a reminder that even amidst the seriousness of academics and historical grandeur, we should never forget to revel in the simple joys – the joy of a beautifully brewed cuppa, a bite of something sweet, and the simple delight of enjoying the sunshine.

Later in the evening, I decided to explore Oxford’s vibrant theatre scene, a testament to the city’s vibrant arts community. You wouldn't believe it, but they had a modern ballet production based on Alice in Wonderland! It was truly captivating - the choreography was incredible, with leaps and twirls that left me gasping in admiration, the costumes were so whimsical, and the story had a touch of playful darkness that added an extra layer of magic.

You know me - my inner ballerina just has to try everything. So, before I left the theater, I decided to have a go at their beginner's ballet class - you wouldn't believe how much fun it was! Everyone in the class was so welcoming, and we laughed and learned together. You know I couldn’t leave without sharing a bit of ballet joy. Even my little pink tutu found its place amongst the dancers in this magical Oxford theatre! 🩰

The whole experience reminded me how important it is to be bold and embrace new adventures, and how easy it is to discover unexpected magic even in the most familiar places.

You can do anything you put your mind to - this I believe. That’s my motto. And so, whether you’re on a fancy journey to Oxford, having tea in your favorite café, or twirling around your living room in your most fabulous tutu - you are capable of magical things.

Don’t ever forget it.

And just like my ballet shoes take me through all sorts of different dance routines, let's all try embracing all sorts of different life experiences.

So go on, have some fun and try something new today - who knows what delightful surprises are waiting around the corner!

With much love and a whole lot of pink,

Emma 💓
