A Pink Tutu and a Steam Train
This trip, I decided to ditch the car and go old-school. You guys know I'm all about travel that involves a good dose of whimsy, and a steam train journey seemed perfect. The rhythmic chug of the engine and the whistle sounding its "All aboard!" were like the soundtrack to a vintage ballet – romantic, magical, and oh so much fun!
Stepping into Roman History
As soon as I arrived in Saint Albans, I was charmed by its historical heart. We're talking ancient Roman ruins right there in the middle of town – how cool is that? I practically pirouetted into the Verulamium Museum, mesmerized by the incredible stories from the past. My favourite discovery? A Roman mosaic floor. Can you imagine, all that intricate detail back then? They were clearly ahead of their time with their art! 💖
The Joy of Ballet Everywhere
Now, any trip wouldn't be complete without a dose of ballet, would it? This time, my adventures led me to the Hertfordshire Ballet Company's performance at the Alban Arena. The dancers were exquisite, each leap and pirouette effortlessly graceful. You know how much I love those pointe shoes – it takes so much skill to make them look effortless! The performance was simply divine!
Pink Power on the High Street
Saint Albans has this adorable high street, brimming with independent shops and cafes. I swear, I spotted a whole range of outfits just screaming "pink tutu"! From cute vintage boutiques to chic gift shops, this city knows how to dress!
Don't Forget to Treat Yourself!
I found the cutest cafe called "The Little Cake Shop." Imagine a slice of the most divine lemon drizzle cake, served with a dollop of pink whipped cream. Talk about a dreamy afternoon tea!
A Touch of Wildlife Wonder
And as if Saint Albans wasn't already perfect, it's right next to the stunning Hertfordshire countryside. So, of course, I had to slip on my comfy walking shoes and take a wander through the Verulamium Park. I got to see some majestic swans gliding gracefully across the water. Nature and ballet, it seems, are two sides of the same elegant coin! 🕊️
Inspiration Everywhere!
It's been an incredible couple of days here in Saint Albans. The historical charm, the vibrant atmosphere, the beautiful performances, and the incredible people – it truly left me inspired. And I hope you can feel the energy through these words.
