Ellesmere Port: Pink Tutu Travels - Post 8110

Hello my darlings! It's your girl Emma here, bringing you all the latest news from my Pink Tutu travels. Today, I'm all aflutter because I've just landed in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. This gorgeous little town is a stone's throw from the Mersey River and is a delightful mix of modern and historic architecture, all nestled against the stunning backdrop of the Cheshire countryside.

Pink Tutu on the Train

Getting here was half the fun! Instead of catching a plane (too stressful and my carbon footprint doesn't agree with those frequent flier miles) I decided to take the train, of course. What better way to travel than to gaze out the window and be mesmerised by the English countryside, with my trusty pink tutu draped over the seat beside me? (Pink tulle always adds a touch of glamour, even on the train.) It was the perfect chance to plan out my ballet moves for the next performance. Just imagine me gliding down the train aisle, pointe shoes twinkling! It’s all a bit much for a packed, commuter train. But hey, a girl can dream!

Whirlwind of Ballet in Ellesmere Port

This is a real hidden gem for ballet, you know! Right from the off, I discovered the Ellesmere Port Dance Academy, such a beautiful studio full of enthusiastic students. I snuck in for a class and the energy was electric! It's so wonderful to see so much passion for dance here. I might even do a full class tomorrow! Their schedule has ballet, tap, and even modern dance – so exciting!

I'm not the only one obsessed with ballet here; there's an amazing local ballet company – The Ellesmere Port Ballet Company. This group has so much talent! They're hosting an amazing fundraiser tomorrow – The Dance of Dreams. Guess who has a ticket? They have so much energy and so many different performance styles, and it will be fun to get involved and see what’s new.

Pink Tutu Takes on the Cheshire Wildlife Trust

Of course, no trip is complete without a dose of nature, and I can't help but get lost in the wonders of the wild. So, off to the Cheshire Wildlife Trust I went. Their focus is all on local conservation and there are loads of walking trails and wetlands. There's even a little visitor center, with a gift shop. Who knows what goodies might be in there – pink ballet slippers anyone?

One of the highlights of the visit was a stroll through their butterfly gardens, watching those gorgeous, flitting beauties fluttering in the sun. Something about the delicate beauty of the butterflies brings out the ballerinas in me. They remind me of a delicate dance in nature, swirling and pirouetting amidst the vibrant flora. As if they were created for the stage! And I definitely took a moment to soak it all in, tutu and all! (Although the other walkers looked slightly perplexed, you have to love the look on peoples faces when you pass in a full tulle tutu!). But let’s face it, when is a full tutu ever not a good look!

Ellesmere Port - Where the Ballet Dreams Begin

You know, after this trip I have to say that Ellesmere Port has completely charmed me. The people are friendly, the culture scene is thriving, and it is definitely a ballet lover's paradise. Don't you think it’s time to add this wonderful little town to your must-visit list? (Think of it like a dress rehearsal for your next big adventure!)

Of course, my adventure in Ellesmere Port wasn’t all rainbows and pink tulle, there were a few awkward moments. Like that one guy in the supermarket checkout who kept looking me up and down. And the kids in the park who pointed and yelled "Tutu lady! Tutu Lady!". And there was this crazy incident when a squirrel decided to have a nap in my tutu…but really, you can't complain when nature chooses your tulle as its haven. A girl can’t have it all - it’s the things that make you laugh that bring you a sense of adventure, right?
