Llanelli: Tutu-ing Around with a Welsh Wind

#TutuBlog 8186

Oh darling, you wouldn't believe the adventures I've had today! The sun was shining and I was so excited to be heading to Llanelli - a place that, truth be told, I had absolutely no idea about until this week! I have to admit, the main draw was the promise of a delightful little ballet performance at the lovely Little Theatre. And wouldn't you know it, it was absolutely magical!

But before I delve into the details, let's talk fashion! I absolutely could not resist whipping out my new tulle delight - a shocking pink, feathered tutu fit for a princess. It twirled beautifully as I hopped off the train (yes, darling, I chose a train journey over a car for the scenic route and the thrill of being so close to nature. Who can say no to the sheep peacefully grazing in the fields?)

The moment I stepped into Llanelli, I felt the change. The air had a slightly different tang, and there was something so charming about the town's architecture. Perhaps it was the grand Victorian buildings, maybe the sense of history, or just the Welsh accent – I felt instantly charmed by this little corner of Wales.

Now, on to the performance! It was a production of "The Sleeping Beauty" - my absolute favourite. The music was heavenly, the costumes exquisite, and the dancing itself left me speechless. Seeing so many talented dancers, each pouring their hearts out, filled my soul with joy. The whole thing was simply captivating.

After the performance, I popped into a charming tea shop just a stone's throw from the theatre. The place was full of lovely old ladies with cheeky smiles and even chekier stories, all reminiscing about the days they would have watched this very same performance in their own childhoods. There was just this magical air of nostalgia mixed with present day charm. And they even served their tea in floral teacups. Heaven!

Feeling thoroughly refreshed with a lovely cup of Earl Grey, I spent the afternoon exploring the town, wandering along the promenade with its breath-taking views of the coast and the sea. The sun glinted on the waves, and a salty breeze carried the scent of the ocean. It was bliss!

It wasn't just the scenery that caught my eye; I spotted the most incredible collection of vintage shops and boutiques nestled amongst the older buildings. It was like stepping back in time with the retro outfits and quirky antiques. It just begged to be explored!

After spending hours rummaging and haggling (yes, I'm a bit of a pro at haggling when I see something special, just ask the delightful owner of that antique shop, darling!), I treated myself to a lovely traditional Welsh supper of lamb and roasted vegetables. It was cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with a bottle of local Welsh cider.

Of course, a little pre-dinner entertainment was necessary. Llanelli, I discovered, has a truly charming art scene, with local galleries showcasing a diverse collection of works. It made my heart happy seeing so much creativity buzzing in such a vibrant place. I even spotted a beautiful painting of a girl in a pink tutu – how appropriate!

Then, with a full belly and a heart full of artistic joy, I hopped back on the train and waved goodbye to Llanelli, a place I will surely revisit in the future. It's filled with charm and history, offering something special for everyone, regardless of whether you have a love for the arts, for the outdoors, or even for just a good cup of tea and a chat with a friendly local.

To finish off, here’s my little nugget of inspiration for the day, my darlings:

  • Life is like a beautiful ballet – you need to keep moving, even when the steps feel hard. Never forget to add your own style and flourish, even if it means wearing a pink tutu to the local library.

Keep sparkling, my darlings.

Lots of love,

Emma
