Hey darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Ashington and brimming with pink-tutu energy! I know, I know, not exactly the most glamorous location, but hey, a girl's gotta get out of Derbyshire every now and then. 😉
This week, I decided to ditch the usual London hustle and bustle and head up north for some proper countryside fun. A little secret? I have a bit of a soft spot for a train journey – especially a steam train. There's something truly magical about the rhythmic chuff-chuffing and the sight of those massive wheels chugging along. And of course, a train is the perfect opportunity to slip on my favourite pink tutu – yes, even for a day trip.
The journey was absolutely blissful! It was a proper escape from the city. The scenery whizzed by – rolling fields, quaint villages, even a herd of sheep staring at me with their beady eyes. I tried to catch their eye by twirling my tutu but they just bleated at me, not understanding the majesty of it all. Poor things, perhaps they were just jealous of my pink fluffiness!
Once I arrived in Ashington, I made a beeline for the Ashington Town Hall. Can you believe they have a whole building dedicated to ballet classes? It was incredible! The moment I walked in, I was greeted by a sea of tutus - pink, purple, yellow, blue – you name it! I felt a warmth in my heart seeing these ladies of all shapes and sizes taking on the barre, and the young ones so full of grace and energy, making me want to join in. And let's be honest, I couldn't resist – the pink-tutu whisper within me was far too strong!
Of course, no trip to a town with a ballet-loving spirit would be complete without attending a show. Luckily, the Ashington Ballet Company had just finished rehearsals for their upcoming performance of "Sleeping Beauty", which they were generously showcasing that night. And guess who got a VIP pass thanks to my incredible pink-tutu aura?!
The show was everything I had hoped for and more. The talent was absolutely incredible – from the effortless grace of the lead ballerina to the dazzling costumes and incredible stage design. I even had a moment with one of the dancers after the performance - her eyes lit up when she saw my pink tutu. We shared stories and tips on the best tutu shops – a fellow tutu enthusiast!
Ashington may be a small town, but it has a vibrant community with a passion for dance that's contagious. My inner ballerina truly thrived during my time there. I left feeling invigorated, inspired, and, dare I say, even more passionate about the beauty of ballet than ever before.
But Ashington wasn't just about ballet – it also offered some unexpected delights! We headed to the town's local museum and discovered the most charming collection of antique porcelain dolls – each dressed in an array of extravagant outfits, a nod to their own fashion-forward era. A little dose of history for my creative soul.
The trip to Ashington taught me a lot about what true happiness means. It wasn’t about luxury hotels or designer clothes – although, let’s be honest, I did wear a fabulous pink tutu everywhere I went! It was about the joy of discovery, connecting with a passionate community, and discovering new places that resonate with my own inner joy and energy. It's proof that magic can be found in the most unexpected corners of the world – just look out for that pink-tutu feeling and it will guide you there!
