Wellington Wanderings: Tutu Time in a Green Paradise

Post 8247

Oh my darling readers! Hello from Wellington, New Zealand! It feels like ages since I’ve graced you with my words (and pics, obviously!), but I’ve been utterly swamped with the thrill of travelling! It's been a whirlwind journey to get here – all aboard a glorious train ride, through the stunning Derbyshire countryside, a quick pit stop in London, then onto the plane and finally a scenic car ride across the New Zealand countryside, it really was the stuff of dreams. I’m absolutely besotted with Wellington – this city is brimming with charm and a palpable passion for life. And, let’s be honest, the weather has been a little slice of heaven! Sunlight and crisp air are my absolute fave, making it the perfect setting to unleash my inner tutu queen!

But let me backtrack a little and tell you about my journey…

Pink Tutu, Pink Dreams

Before I set off, my flat was awash in pink - an absolute frenzy of tulle, ribbons, and sequins, as I lovingly selected the perfect pink tutu for my Wellington escapade! Pink, of course, is my muse, the colour of whimsical dreams and graceful pirouettes. My heart, my soul, they all flutter with the glorious femininity of it. This time, however, I wanted a tutu that truly embodied the vibrancy of New Zealand.

Green, that's what I craved. And luckily for this adventurous ballerina, a magical emerald tutu with the softest, most intricate detailing just arrived from a darling boutique in France - the kind that would have any swan queen swooning! A perfect, perfect contrast to my pink-hued suitcase, filled with frilly frocks and bejewelled shoes, ready to dazzle Wellington with my trademark style.

Wellington’s Wild Wonders

Stepping onto Wellington’s bustling streets, I felt like Alice stepping into a wonderland! I could hardly keep my eyes peeled from the charming shops and quaint cafes tucked away amongst the charming colonial architecture. It truly was a symphony of beauty and quirk!

But it's not just the city that captured my heart. The beautiful landscape that surrounded Wellington absolutely blew me away. We spent an afternoon riding through the rolling green hills, laughing along with some fluffy sheep, who looked just as happy to see us as we were to see them. Their wooly coats were so soft, just begging to be touched! And later, at the Wellington Botanic Garden, I met some friendly, inquisitive lizards, basking on the sun-soaked stones. They were so full of energy! There is something so soothing about being surrounded by the beauty and innocence of wildlife.

A Ballet of Elegance and Passion

One of the most incredible moments of my trip was definitely seeing a performance at the New Zealand Opera! They had this exquisite ballet about a young dancer who travels to a foreign land to fulfil her destiny - all complete with ethereal costumes and captivating music! It filled me with inspiration, reminding me why I pour my heart and soul into the art of dance. And when the dancers glided across the stage in a perfectly synchronised ballet, their movements, elegant and powerful, echoing their journey towards fulfilling their potential, it took my breath away.

Naturally, I took a class at a local dance studio, a little haven where I met the most fantastically supportive and enthusiastic group of ballerinas! It felt incredible to share my passion with like-minded individuals, our feet flying over the polished floor, telling tales of strength and beauty through the graceful language of ballet.

Wellington: Tutu Love and Beyond

You know how much I love experiencing new cultures and immersing myself in different worlds through food! And Wellington delivered! There were delectable pastries in a quaint little patisserie and a magical Italian restaurant that served the most divine gnocchi. I, of course, indulged in a creamy strawberry gelato on a sunny afternoon, and then we had this crazy night out trying local fish and chips, which, I have to say, were absolutely heavenly.

Every day has been filled with adventure and unexpected delights, and Wellington, with its infectious energy and welcoming atmosphere, is truly becoming a place I love dearly. I truly believe that my darling tutu queen, green and all, fits right into this spirited, creative environment. It’s a perfect example of how a simple piece of tulle can truly embrace a global story!

To All My Tutu Lovers

I'm urging you to join me in the Tutu Revolution! If you have a passion for dance, for fashion, for pushing boundaries, for expressing your individuality with a whimsical spirit – then you must don a tutu! And whether you're a seasoned ballerina, or just a curious soul looking to explore a new side of yourself, please give ballet a try!

Every single moment, no matter how big or small, can be a beautiful ballet! Whether you’re gliding across a dance floor or taking a walk in a verdant forest, bring the grace and artistry of dance into every step.

I can’t wait to share more stories and magical experiences with you from my incredible trip to New Zealand! Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting posts – including a thrilling story about my trip to the magical mountains of the South Island!

Until then, keep your twirls strong and your hearts full!

Lots of love,

Emma xoxo
