Colchester Calling! πŸ©°πŸ’– (Post #8297)

Hey my lovely tutu-twirling darlings! It's Emma here, back with another adventure from my whirlwind life in the land of pinks, twirls, and all things fabulous! Today, I'm writing to you from the historic and charming town of Colchester. Yes, you read that right, I traded in my usual Derbyshire countryside for a dose of Essex seaside air! 🌊

Now, I know what you're thinking - "Colchester? Isn't that just a place with a big Roman fort?". And you'd be partly right, my dear! But Colchester has a charm that sneaks up on you like a mischievous pixie. Plus, it’s not every day I get to be in a town where the famous Colchester Zoo is literally a stone's throw away. 🦁

Speaking of getting to Colchester, how did I travel you ask? Well, as any good pink-tutu-clad adventurer would do, I took the scenic route. No boring old car for me! My loyal steed - ahem, that’s my trusty steed-like train for those of you with sensitive ears - took me on a smooth journey through the English countryside. πŸš„

Imagine a vintage train carriage, sunbeams dancing on the polished wood and me, sitting by the window, book in hand, in my favourite, pink-sequined tutu (because, you know, pink tutu rules, every.single.time). The rhythmic chugging of the train and the views of rolling hills flashing by made it the most delightful form of transport, truly fitting for my "ballet on the go" vibes.

Now, before I start going on about Colchester Zoo (because seriously, that place was amazing, full of majestic animals and all), let me give you a little taste of Colchester itself. The town centre has this lovely old-world charm. Cobblestone streets, beautiful buildings, little shops tucked into nooks and crannies - all just perfect for exploring and indulging in the quaintness of it all. I even found a lovely vintage store brimming with vintage-inspired clothing and accessories - so needless to say, a few new gems joined my wardrobe (more about those in a future post). πŸ’–

Of course, what’s a visit to Colchester without venturing into its famous history, right? So I braved the slightly daunting climb up to the Colchester Castle! 🏰 Let’s be honest, climbing towers in my tutu was no easy feat! πŸ˜‚ But worth every breath I must say. It's fascinating to imagine life centuries ago inside those mighty stone walls. Plus, the views from the top of the keep were incredible. And yes, I took some extremely fabulous pictures in my pink tutu to document the occasion! πŸ˜‰

And speaking of pictures… you guys know how much I love showcasing my love for all things dance! 🩰 And what better way to express that than with a few snaps in my pink tutu amidst the beauty of Colchester? I found a picturesque little park and just danced my heart out - feeling like a little ballet fairy among the blossoms and sunlight! It was pure joy and freedom, and I wouldn't trade those moments for anything.

Don't even get me started on Colchester Zoo! Seriously, it was like stepping into a vibrant, animal-filled wonderland! From penguins waddling by to monkeys swinging through the trees, and oh, those majestic tigers - it was truly a treat for the senses! And you know, I had a revelation there in the heart of the zoo - a pink tutu can work wonders in a zoo, let me tell you. Just watch out for the monkeys, they may want to borrow a few sequins! πŸ’

But now, it’s time to rewind back to the real world! And after my Essex adventures, what better way to end the day than with a truly decadent supper, complete with a perfectly pink dessert? (because you just cannot get away from the pinkness, even on this trip!). It’s almost as if I’ve set up camp for my next blog post as I write this! πŸ˜‹

Well, there you have it! Colchester, a town I didn't know I needed, a visit full of colour, charming streets, history, and of course, pink tutu moments. This is the kind of travel that I live for, and it is the type of story that reminds us all to get out there and experience something new!

I hope this blog post has inspired you to take a trip, to get out of your comfort zone, to be adventurous, to twirl, and to always be unapologetically you! And yes, wear that pink tutu – every chance you get.

Now, I’m going to do what any proper ballerina would do after a day of adventures – settle into a hot bath, pull on a pair of comfy pyjamas, and let my head hit the pillow, dreaming of twirls, tigers, and oh yes, a few more pink tutu moments, of course!

Until next time, my darlings, stay twirly and stay fabulous!

Love,

Emma. πŸ’•πŸ©°
