Bath, You Beauty! (And a Pink Tutu, Obviously!)

#TutuBlog Post 8314

Hey everyone, it’s Emma here! And oh my gosh, I’m so excited to be back on www.pink-tutu.com for another daily blog post. Let's get straight to the point: today, we're talking about Bath. This gorgeous city, famous for its history, architecture, and (you guessed it!) the famous hot springs, has utterly stolen my heart.

Now, you know how much I love a good travel adventure. I can’t resist the call of the open road (or the tracks!) and the joy of discovering new places. And when a place has something to do with ballet – whether that's a beautiful theatre or a studio brimming with potential dancers – I'm truly in my element.

Bath ticked all the boxes, let me tell you! Not only is it just stunning visually, with those golden honey-coloured stone buildings and charming cobblestone streets, but it's also got a rich history connected to theatre and the performing arts. And to top it off, Bath holds a special place in the world of ballet: did you know that the famous choreographer Frederick Ashton lived here for many years? It's pretty clear Bath knows how to put on a show!

And what do you wear to a show-stopping city like Bath? A pink tutu, of course! Now, before you start thinking I'm totally out there (which, let's be honest, I kinda am sometimes!), I actually took a more subtle approach today. Think a classic pink tulle skirt that whispered, “I love dancing!” rather than shouted it from the rooftops. You gotta play it cool, even when your heart is as bright as a stage light!

Now, let me tell you about my day! I woke up feeling fresh as a daisy, fueled by the most delicious cup of Earl Grey tea (oh, British breakfast rituals!) and then I headed off on the train to Bath. A little fact about me: I absolutely adore train travel! There’s something so romantic and elegant about the rhythm of the train, the rolling countryside rushing past the windows…it sparks my creativity, and gives me time to write in my journal, reflect, and plan my day!

Arriving in Bath, I was immediately charmed by the bustling energy of the city. But even more charming was the sweet aroma of freshly baked pastries that wafted from a nearby cafe. I couldn't resist! A flaky croissant with a generous amount of butter was my fuel for the day, and then, with my belly happy and my soul full of wanderlust, I was off!

My first stop was, of course, the iconic Royal Crescent. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s one of those must-see landmarks that everyone should experience. It felt like stepping back in time – these stately Georgian houses, with their graceful lines and perfectly manicured gardens, took me straight to a Jane Austen novel! And to make things even more exciting, the whole crescent was dressed up in a beautiful array of flowers for the spring season – truly a picture-perfect moment.

From there, I followed my senses down Milsom Street, the main shopping street in Bath. I always love getting lost in the charm of smaller shops, the hidden treasures, the personal touch. I picked up a delicate pearl necklace, and a little antique porcelain cat for my bookshelf, both things that made my heart flutter with joy. They’re just so pretty and feminine!

Later, I decided to explore the city's stunning history and wandered through the Roman Baths, an incredible archaeological wonder that revealed how people lived over 2,000 years ago. You can even bathe in the hot springs today! I tried to imagine how it might have felt back in Roman times, dipping into the water with the scent of ancient herbs in the air, and then just walking out into the bustling heart of Bath, where everyone’s lives and cultures intersected. Amazing!

You might think that exploring all this history would tire me out, but no, not a chance! In the evening, I went to see a fantastic show in the beautiful Theatre Royal Bath – a grand old building with such a vibrant energy. I saw a performance of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, and I absolutely loved the way the performers brought this timeless story to life. It was incredibly powerful and poignant, reminding me of the raw emotions that connect us all, and the beautiful tragedy of love lost.

I actually went to the stage door after the show (because when the chance to chat to actors is available, I always take it!) I got to share a quick chat with a dancer from the production – so charming and so inspiring. You see, it's always lovely to chat to others about ballet! It's an unspoken language that connects us on a deep level, bringing us together regardless of our backgrounds. It’s a language of emotion, a universal story that transcends the boundaries of time, culture, and language. That's what makes it so wonderful!

I finished my evening with a decadent cup of hot chocolate (just the right amount of marshmallow and chocolate shavings!) with a little sketchbook and a pastel set. I felt my soul brimming with artistic inspiration – oh the sheer magic of Bath, you know? – and that always makes me want to create. So now I’m off to catch up on emails and blog posts (and maybe sneak in another cuppa tea!), but trust me, I’ll be back here tomorrow with a new post about all my fun and fab adventures. See you then, darlings!

Lots of love and happy twirls, Emma
