Dunfermline Daze: A Tutu-licious Trip! 🩰

#TutuBlog #8385

Hello darlings! 🙋‍♀️ Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, reporting live from Dunfermline! The journey here was a right treat – I caught the train, which I adore, and as always, it was a wonderful way to get to know the country, a real sense of adventure! The countryside in Scotland is stunning, such verdant hillsides dotted with the most delightful sheep - even managed to spot a cute little lamb playing around! 🐑

Anyway, back to my fab trip to Dunfermline! This historical town is just bursting with character. I’m staying in the cutest little guesthouse with such a friendly owner. She told me all about the town’s history - did you know, Dunfermline was once the capital of Scotland! It's such a shame they don't have ballet in their school curriculum though - imagine, every little Scottish boy and girl doing their pirouettes, oh my goodness, how delightful that would be! 😜

Dunfermline's most famous resident, by far, was none other than Robert the Bruce, who is, quite rightly, celebrated in the Dunfermline Abbey, a place that is so breathtaking, you almost don't want to take your eyes off its exquisite arches and windows. However, once you peek through the doors of the abbey you'll see an actual historical monument, Robert the Bruce’s grave – and let me tell you, that was a truly moving moment! A lovely gentleman wearing a kilt took a picture for me in front of his tomb - I always say there’s a true ballet dancer at heart in every gentleman, those grand sweeping leg moves, a pure joy! 😊

After my historic tour, I had to find the perfect outfit to see a truly special ballet show at the Alhambra Theatre – think shimmering pink, of course! A little sparkle and lots of twirling material – you know how much I love my tulle and this pink tut-tastic number is a real head-turner! 😉 The local shops here are pretty fabulous, full of amazing boutiques where you can find so many beautiful pieces to compliment your inner dancer and well, let's face it - I do have a habit of scooping up anything with sparkles and twirls, don't I?! 💖

Oh, and before I forget, if you’re a tutu enthusiast, I found the cutest boutique where they actually hand-make the most gorgeous custom-made tutus, what a dream come true! Can you believe I left with three new tutus? Each one, utterly delightful.

Now, I know you're all dying to know what show I was going to see! It was a ballet adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s plays, and I'm not gonna lie – it was incredible! There was so much talent, beautiful choreography, the emotion on their faces - truly mesmerizing. The energy of the dance was infectious. By the end of the performance I couldn’t contain myself, I had to give them a standing ovation – I mean, really, it deserved it. If you can, catch this ballet, if you have even the tiniest drop of passion for dance in your heart, it’ll leave you completely mesmerized!

Now, here is a little piece of insider information for you, darling, because let’s face it - this ballet life is all about being in the know! The next morning I had the honour of meeting the resident choreographer. He actually designed and choreographed this exquisite adaptation. Oh, we chatted for ages about the challenges and delights of creating a new piece, a true honour to hear the vision for a show through the eyes of the artist! It truly brought the magic of the performance to life!

Of course, no trip is complete without some delicious treats! In between exploring, I treated myself to the most amazing local pastry from this lovely bakery called "The Bakehouse". Can you believe it - a chocolate brownie filled with cherry swirls? I mean, what else could a girl want? Oh, it’s heavenly! Not only is it gorgeous to look at (with those beautiful swirls!) it is seriously divine.

Anyway, the last day arrived, and it was time to catch the train back home. Of course, my suitcase is overflowing with goodies and treasures that are more likely to cause the luggage weight limit to be exceeded. My advice, my darling, when travelling to Dunfermline, pack light – unless of course, you plan to go shopping for some gorgeous tutus and sparkly goodies! 👗

But my main goal for this trip, apart from buying enough pink to match every shade of a Scottish sunset, was to see a little bit more of this amazing, diverse world - I did just that, my lovelies. It’s important to step outside your comfort zone, go out there, dance your way into your heart’s desire and you’ll never regret the experiences, the moments, the memories that come with it.

And speaking of that comfort zone… Did I mention I took up horse riding during my time in Dunfermline? I’m totally smitten! I even had a pink helmet, of course, gotta wear the colour that brings you joy! I really feel that this trip helped me to really embrace this incredible ballet journey that I’m on!

Oh, one more thing – remember my dream to get everyone to wear a pink tutu? I think I may have found a new recruit for Team Tutu. There was this little girl with pigtails on the train on my way back – she’d lost her favourite pink fluffy rabbit. We ended up chatting, and guess what? I persuaded her to try on a little sparkly pink tutu! Maybe, just maybe, the future of ballet is pink! 😜

So that’s it from Dunfermline – what a glorious time! Hope this has brought you as much joy and inspiration as it did to me. Don't forget, stay twirling, stay pink, stay gorgeous! 💖
