Portsmouth in Pink: Tutu-ing Around the Solent

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, and I'm so excited to be sharing with you my latest adventures from Portsmouth! This city has a certain charm, you know, with its bustling harbour, historic streets, and - oh, yes - that stunning coastline! I wouldn't trade it for a world.

Now, you'll be surprised to learn this is post number 8517 - can you believe it?! Time really does fly when you're living your best pink-tutu life, filled with adventures and ballet. It feels like just yesterday I was packing my bag for my first solo trip to London, but look at me now - a true travelling ballerina!

My trip to Portsmouth was a complete dream, fuelled by sunshine, good vibes, and yes, of course, a stunning red tutu. Red is my new go-to colour for that extra oomph and confidence. The city welcomed me with open arms and plenty of opportunities for me to indulge in my two passions: ballet and exploring.

A Spin Around The City

Let's talk about this fabulous red tutu, darling. It's all tulle and frills, with layers upon layers of soft, pink silk lining - you wouldn't believe how good it made me feel! It's practically a second skin - it makes me twirl, pirouette, and dance like I'm floating on air. Seriously, I practically had passers-by breaking into impromptu ballet steps along with me. What can I say? Red tutu magic.

I kicked off my Portsmouth escapade by exploring the historic streets. Let me tell you, the charm of those cobbled streets and quaint shops truly got me in the mood to unleash my inner Jane Austen. (She's actually my favourite novelist, don't tell anyone!).

A Dance with the History

Speaking of historical gems, I had to make a stop at the magnificent Spinnaker Tower. This giant sail-shaped structure provides the most spectacular views of the harbour and the Isle of Wight. The best bit? As I climbed the tower, I had the whole city laid out beneath me like a dance floor! You could say I felt like the star of my own performance!

And of course, no visit to Portsmouth would be complete without venturing into the historic Royal Naval Dockyard. I wandered through the eerie yet enchanting spaces, taking in the stories of bravery and adventure that resonate in every corner. There's just something about those towering ships and silent museums that truly brings history alive. And of course, with that gorgeous red tutu, I made quite a statement as I admired the stunning exhibits. It’s good to be a little extra when surrounded by so much history!

Ballet in the City

Now, what trip is complete without some ballet? Portsmouth is brimming with talented dancers and beautiful studios. I discovered the Portsmouth Ballet Company and couldn't resist slipping into their beautiful space for a workshop. Oh my, these dancers are sensational, truly! And you know how I feel about a good ballet class - pure joy and empowerment!

They welcomed me with open arms, and I felt a true sense of belonging amongst those passionate artists. We worked on technique, elegance, and above all, expressing ourselves through movement. The energy was absolutely electrifying, leaving me invigorated and inspired!

Finding Joy in the Little Things

It's not all tutus and dancing, my darlings! The city has this amazing laid-back vibe, making it perfect for simply enjoying life’s small joys. I spent some of my evenings watching the boats bobbing in the harbour, breathing in the fresh air and the scent of salty sea. One of my favourite spots was Southsea Beach. The perfect place for a long walk with the wind in my hair (and the red tutu swishing behind me, of course!) The warm sunset illuminating the shoreline, the seagulls cawing overhead – pure magic!

You might have seen from my recent Instagram post - that I encountered a beautiful family of deer in the local park! Now, I love wildlife! Just think, those graceful creatures are a natural example of the elegant movement I work so hard to emulate!

Riding the Rails in Style

To cap off this perfect Portsmouth experience, I made the journey back home by train. A classic journey for a girl who's obsessed with trains and loves feeling the rumble beneath me. You know how it is – the smell of fresh-cut hay as you journey through countryside. That combined with my bright pink travel bag and my bright red tutu... absolutely divine. (Even the other passengers couldn’t resist offering me smiles as I skipped past their seats, my red tutu making me feel like I’m gliding!)

Making the World Pink

Let’s face it, darlings, a day filled with adventures in a beautiful city with a tutu, a sprinkle of wildlife encounters and the fresh air of the sea… It’s my ideal day!

You know what makes me feel truly fabulous? It's knowing that every day I get to share these stories, spread a little bit of pink and tutu love, and inspire you all to take that leap, be bold, and try something new! Even if it’s just wearing a bright pink tutu for a day. You never know where it might lead you!

Until next time, darlings, let's dance our way to a brighter, more joyful future. Keep shining!

Emma
