Plymouth Calling! Tutu Travels, Post #8529

Hello my beautiful tutu-loving darlings! Emma here, and as you can tell from the title, I’ve been having a simply splendid time exploring Plymouth! This week's trip has been all about swirling tutus, taking in the beauty of the sea, and of course, getting those ballet muscles warmed up. I even saw some adorable sea life (I mean, I couldn't go all the way to the coast and not check out the local marine life, could I?!). It's a place of history and wonder, a true treat for my adventurous spirit!

Now, I must tell you all about this journey. First off, let's talk trains. Yes, the ultimate mode of transport for a ballerina! The rhythm of the tracks, the whooshing of the wind, it’s all such inspiration! There’s something magical about seeing the world go by, feeling the rumble beneath you, and just getting lost in the journey. Especially when you have a fluffy pink tutu in your bag, just itching to get unpacked! I’m really enjoying embracing this new travel style – it makes everything feel just that bit more whimsical and carefree.

So, arriving in Plymouth, what did I do? Well, I naturally went straight to the ballet studio! I just can’t help it. The thrill of getting back into those pointes, feeling the muscles working and the graceful movements. Oh, the joy! I love that feeling of pure liberation when you’re on stage or in a class, just lost in the dance. And let me tell you, the Plymouth studio was delightful! There were these beautiful arched windows that let in the sunshine, making the whole place feel so airy and inspiring.

After class, a friend and I strolled through the charming city. We had the most divine afternoon tea – pink cakes and champagne, you know, a little ballerina indulgence! But honestly, nothing compares to the view from Hoe Park, overlooking the harbour. The boats, the blue water, the smell of salty air… it's enough to make your heart sing, or at least inspire some truly elegant ballet poses!

And let's not forget about the gorgeous Royal Citadel, standing there proud as punch overlooking Plymouth. The history and architecture just called out for a ballerina photoshoot. I just had to capture the majestic view and the fairytale charm of the city – and of course, I had to wear my newest pink tutu! A little dash of pink amidst the grey stones really gives the photo that je ne sais quoi. Oh, and have you ever noticed how pink just looks stunning against the backdrop of a clear blue sky?!

As for the wildlife… I simply couldn't leave Plymouth without a trip to the National Marine Aquarium. Oh, the magic! I got up close and personal with sharks, sea turtles, and the cutest little jellyfish you could imagine. Seeing them gliding gracefully, like ballerinas in their own underwater world… it just made me want to leap into that tank with them!

Speaking of leaping, have you ever noticed how ballet and nature really complement each other? It’s like they both share this kind of natural grace. It's in the flow, the way they both move with elegance, the way they inspire awe and wonder. I mean, think about it – the fluidity of a fish, the grace of a swan, the powerful strides of a cheetah – it’s all just so inspiring. Perhaps that’s why so many ballets are named after nature, like "The Swan Lake" and "Giselle"? It’s like nature has always been a part of the ballet world.

I feel so incredibly fortunate to be able to travel and experience the world, to explore and find new beauty everywhere I go, all while wearing my beloved pink tutus, of course! My biggest hope? That someday everyone will join me, embracing the joy and freedom of ballet and wearing their own pink tutu with pride! And you never know, you might just catch me twirling in a train station or striking a pose on the cliff tops. Who says a ballerina can't be a nomad too?

Till next time, dear readers!

Lots of love and twirls,

Emma xx
