Oxford: Tutu & Tarts 🍰🩰

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, and today, I’m posting from the magical city of Oxford! This is post number 8544 on the Pink Tutu website, and, just to remind you, my mission in life is to make the world a pink tutu-wearing, ballet-loving haven. 😉 💖

This week, I’m swapping my usual ballet shoes for comfy boots because I’m off on an exciting adventure, venturing out to see the famous sights of Oxford and enjoying the stunning autumn scenery, while also getting my fill of ballet, of course!

The train journey from Derbyshire was a delight, with vibrant autumn colours whizzing by, making me wish I could grab my paints and capture it all! The gentle sway of the train made me want to sway in time, and my pink tutu swished beautifully against the burgundy leather seats! Even fellow passengers couldn’t help but smile and give me a knowing wink, understanding that sometimes you just gotta unleash your inner ballerina! 💖

I’m staying at a gorgeous little hotel nestled right near the centre, making exploring super easy. The rooms are charming with exposed beams and antique furniture, and I just love the plush pink floral velvet curtains, giving me a feeling of instant vintage romance! It just had to be a pink tutu kind of a day!

Oxford's Ballet Delights 🩰

I couldn’t resist getting my dance fix, and it’s amazing how even the quaintest towns have an incredibly active ballet scene. This afternoon, I went to see a wonderful performance of “Giselle” at a local ballet school. The performance was captivating, filled with emotion and beautiful choreography, with stunning tutus that could make a girl like me weep with envy! I’m so in awe of how ballet is so ubiquitous. It’s simply the language of the body, universal, moving, and full of beauty, which you can find even in the most unexpected places! The young dancers at the school were utterly delightful, with talent oozing out of their very being. The finale was a stunning interpretation of “Swan Lake”, which left me completely spellbound! 😍

The Oxford Foodie Scene 🥧

No trip to Oxford would be complete without an exploration of its gastronomical delights! I am absolutely addicted to delicious and well-presented cakes. It’s a firm belief of mine that life is about balance, so ballet practice followed by a slice of something decadent is an absolute must! And Oxford did not disappoint! This evening, I indulged in the most amazing, sugary treat – a pink iced raspberry tart with a buttery crust that just melted in my mouth, and I could practically taste the summer berries. It was just divine and totally lived up to the ‘Pink Tutu’ expectations! It just proves you can enjoy delicious and exciting flavours, whilst maintaining a ballerina lifestyle – go figure! 😊

Tomorrow, I plan to venture further afield to explore the ancient beauty of Blenheim Palace, where I’ll probably lose myself in the maze for a good while before picnicking with my picnic basket of goodies. And, as you may know, my picnic basket is always beautifully coordinated with the day’s outfit. Naturally, it’s always a gorgeous shade of pink and features delicate bows and ribbons and a pretty tutu, making sure to show that even my food basket has ballerina style!

Pink Tutu Inspiration 💕

Oh, my lovely blog readers! As I stroll around Oxford, my eyes are peeled for inspirational pink tutu moments! Today’s outfit, naturally, included my favorite dusty rose pink tutu! It perfectly complimented my elegant cream sweater and high-heeled ankle boots. After all, I’m never without a tutu wherever I travel, and Oxford seemed to encourage a certain flamboyant elegance!

However, Oxford’s influence did not end there! I had to take advantage of the opportunity to get some new tutu material – how could I possibly resist?! So I purchased a lovely blush pink satin fabric. I must confess, I simply cannot resist the allure of silk and satin! 🙈 This will soon be incorporated into a new ballet leotard and I will be sure to take a million pictures for the Pink Tutu website when I unveil it to you all! 🩰

And to truly embody the “pink tutu” lifestyle, I also purchased a few pieces of art, too. This will remind me of my lovely visit and inspire me with every passing glance, not to mention bring a beautiful splash of colour to my home studio! 💖 I’m not talking about any old art – no, no, I went to one of Oxford’s fantastic antique shops and discovered the most beautiful collection of pastel pink 18th-century porcelain figures, and a selection of delicate pink pastel coloured china cups and saucers, too! They truly have ‘pink tutu vibes’ don’t you think?

You see, my dear followers, the ‘pink tutu’ philosophy isn't just about dancing – it’s about adding a splash of joyful colours and delicate beauty to every aspect of life. Why settle for ordinary when you can have the extraordinary? 😉

Pink Tutu Moments in Oxford

Of course, I made sure to visit some of Oxford's historic sights - The Bodleian Library is majestic, but its sheer grandness almost made me forget my tutu was pink! (gasp!) I visited Christ Church College, too. Its intricate architecture was simply mesmerising and its grandeur had to be witnessed. I just knew the Queen herself must have spent an afternoon in its glorious halls, which instantly made me think of a ‘pink tutu’ royal event with a tea dance with delicious scones and a delicious glass of Pimms, and just the sheer idea of it had my mind racing!

My adventure to Oxford, a beautiful tapestry of culture and history, is only just beginning! My tutu and I will be discovering this unique place for the rest of the week. I'm hoping to ride through the countryside in a horse-drawn carriage - just imagine the graceful curves of the horses and my pink tutu – pure visual harmony! I might even get lucky enough to see a herd of wild deer on one of my horse rides. They are said to be a regular sight in the area, and I just know I’ll have to share photos of them with my followers as it'll undoubtedly be a 'pink tutu’ kind of day. Just picture the scene - graceful pink-tutu clad ballerina riding through the English countryside, her eyes sparkling with delight.

So until next time, darling readers, keep those tutus twirling, never stop dreaming, and always remember – there’s a touch of ‘pink tutu magic’ in everything you do! 😘
