Salford: Pancake Tutu Perfection 💖🩰

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballet enthusiast, Emma, back again with another post! I’m in a bit of a writing frenzy, as this is post number 8565 on my ever-growing www.pink-tutu.com blog, but that’s what happens when your life is crammed full of twirling, travelling and a sprinkle of pink – I’ve got to keep up! 😉

This time, I’m whisking you away to Salford, a fabulous little town in Greater Manchester that has been on my list of places to visit for ages! You know I love a good city escape, and Salford absolutely tickled my fancy, brimming with its vibrant energy and historical charm.

I started my day in true Emma style – with a hot cuppa and a delicious breakfast. (It wouldn’t be right without a sprinkle of pink, right? 😊) But of course, it wasn't just any old breakfast. It was a pancake breakfast.

But, you haven’t heard the best part – I'd whipped up a totally adorable tutu for my breakfast pancakes! I used the batter to create fluffy tiers of delicious pancake dough, topped with berries and maple syrup to create a perfectly decadent, edible, pink tutu. A Pancake Tutu! Let me tell you, the tastebuds were as delighted as my inner ballerina! If only my wardrobe tutus were as tasty as these...

With my tummy full and my spirit soaring (let’s be honest, that's how pancakes make me feel, every time!) I set off to Salford's glorious art galleries, which were an absolute feast for the senses! The colourful art truly got my creative juices flowing. I felt like I could’ve danced my way right out of the exhibition hall, and that’s how you know you've got yourself a decent art gallery! 😉

But you know what else? I can’t resist a little ballet-tastic interlude, no matter where I am! And lucky for me, Salford's Theatre Royal was on my agenda! The city boasts an incredible ballet theatre scene. The Royal ballet is just one of the fabulous theatres hosting international ballet performers - with productions happening on an almost daily basis! They even have special kids' classes, which, trust me, got me all kinds of excited! I mean, imagine yourself, at the age of five, all graceful and twirling in a miniature pink tutu - so divine!

While exploring the town, I caught a little dance group rehearsing, in an open space - right in the heart of the city! These dancers had so much joy and energy in every move they made, and it truly warmed my heart! This kind of joy for dance really shows the infectious power of ballet. The energy was electrifying - even the passers-by were captivated!

My day continued, filled with exploration and delightful moments. I happened upon the iconic Salford Lads Club building (you've probably seen it in the movie "This is England"), and it took me back to my childhood growing up in Derbyshire!

Talking of childhood, this afternoon was all about finding something cute and pink (a ballerina MUST! 😁). Luckily, I happened upon a fabulous independent shop filled with a delightful array of hand-crafted items, including, you guessed it... a beautiful pink tutu!* Oh yes, this was an irresistible opportunity I could not resist! I scooped it up with glee, picturing it swaying alongside my pancake breakfast next time I’m indulging my sweet tooth! 😋

As the day ended, I couldn't resist taking in a spot of Salford’s incredible natural beauty, by taking a beautiful walk alongside the River Irwell, catching some magnificent views of the historic Ordsall Hall. It’s amazing what treasures you can uncover just by strolling around! I truly enjoyed soaking in the serene surroundings.

But there’s no day for a tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed gal without some kind of dance-off, so, as evening settled over Salford, I felt a wave of inspiration come over me! What better way to end a spectacular day than with a graceful ballet performance? (The beauty of having a little private practice session right in the middle of the city.) It just felt right!

You’ll probably catch me practising my routines in the city. There are plenty of secret spots where I love to spin around and get lost in the dance. It’s my way of adding some glitter and twirls to the daily grind!

Salford, you've been incredible, from the yummy pancake tutus to the magnificent art and history. You truly won my heart with your vibrant spirit.

Speaking of hearts, you all know that mine is overflowing with pink and love. As a Derbyshire girl at heart, I just have to incorporate my hometown and its charm into this blog post. There’s a fantastic new exhibition in the beautiful and grand Chatsworth House - featuring some beautiful antique lace – all in pretty pink! Oh my, it’s just stunning – you really *must check it out if you’re near Derbyshire, it is an absolute treat!

I just had to sprinkle a little Derbyshire pink magic in here – after all, what’s pink tutu life without a bit of country glamour? 😄

Until next time, my lovelies. Remember, embrace the pink! 💖
