Newbury - Post 8682 - Tutuing Through The Thames Valley

Oh, darling! Another glorious day in the life of a pink-loving ballerina! Today I was blessed with a magical train journey and the most enchanting ballet experience - let me tell you all about it!

You know how I love a good train journey, right? Something about the gentle sway of the carriages, the rustling of papers and the faint, nostalgic aroma of the cafe trolley makes my heart flutter with joy. This morning's journey from Derbyshire was particularly enchanting. I chose the window seat, gazing at the rolling green hills of the English countryside, so beautifully dusted with the first tender shoots of spring. I couldn't help but daydream about a whimsical dance amongst the daisies and dandelions, my pale pink tutu swishing softly with the breeze. And you know, I might just take up that very challenge later this year - a dance amidst the wildflowers, that's going to be glorious!

Upon arriving in Newbury, a delightful town nestled in the heart of the Thames Valley, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by the beautiful Georgian architecture and charming cobbled streets. I decided to wear my American-style tutu for the day. It's a vibrant magenta, which I knew would stand out against the historic setting, a vibrant pop of color that truly embodies my pink-loving personality! I imagined myself twirling like a candy floss fairy down the pedestrian walkways, delighting passersby with my whimsical outfit.

I did, of course, take a stroll through the picturesque town centre. It’s all such a picture of charm – cute little tea shops with mismatched crockery, book shops stuffed to the brim with dog-eared paperbacks, and the quaint market square filled with local crafts and delicious homemade treats. Oh, the sights, smells and sounds – this place has it all. I even found myself gazing at a stunning antique shop window with my jaw literally hanging open in admiration. I'm not quite sure I could afford anything in there, but the visual delight was simply divine!

Of course, I couldn't resist grabbing a delicious slice of cake, (raspberry, of course!), from a lovely little patisserie. A quick coffee later and I was feeling refreshed and ready to see a beautiful dance performance at the Corn Exchange, a beautiful historical theatre. I’m completely addicted to catching every theatrical performance I can, it’s something I try to do at least once a month and I never miss a performance by the local dance schools!

Tonight's show was truly a feast for the senses. A beautiful combination of classical ballet, lyrical dances and contemporary choreography. Each dance piece was beautifully executed by the dancers and had a story to tell – whether it was the joy and freedom of youthful love or the melancholic beauty of longing. One piece had this breathtaking moment, a lone dancer moving so effortlessly across the stage in a spotlight that could have come straight out of a dream.

But I don't just love watching ballet, darling. It's all about experiencing it, about embodying it! That's why I always find a ballet class to attend while I'm away. It's a great way to feel a little more "at home", no matter where I am in the world!

And today's class was nothing short of magic. The instructor, a wonderful woman with an energy that could power a small village, really brought out the dancer within me. I've never been able to nail the perfect "penché", but after tonight's class, I'm convinced that I can reach for those toes and make it happen. We also practiced some incredible leaps, and I have to say, I felt a surge of pure elation with every graceful flight across the studio!

The joy of ballet goes beyond the graceful movements, darling. It's about discovering new possibilities within yourself. And for me, it’s about spreading the joy of ballet and making a little more magic in the world! That's why I always try to introduce people to this extraordinary art form, encouraging them to take a leap of faith and join the fun. It's not about becoming a professional dancer (though I’d certainly love to see more of the world's population take to the stage!) It's about the joy of expression, the thrill of physical challenge, the artistry of movement, and of course, the endless possibilities of twirling in a pink tutu!

Don't forget to join me again tomorrow for another exciting adventure. Will it be a horseback journey to the rolling hills of Devon, a whimsical dance on a Brighton pier, or perhaps a heart-stopping performance at the Royal Opera House? Stay tuned and find out on www.pink-tutu.com, darling!

Until tomorrow!

Emma xoxo
