Bexleyheath: Where Food Took Centre Stage (Tutu Blog Post #8727)

Hello, my lovely Tutu-licious readers! It's Emma here, fresh from another fab adventure and ready to share it all with you. Today's tale is a bit different – I traded the stage for a table, but trust me, it was a dance of flavour from start to finish.

This week, I decided to embark on a journey to the charming town of Bexleyheath. It wasn't just a random pick, darling, there's always a story! My darling Aunt Priscilla (the most fabulous, flamboyant, tutu-loving woman you could meet) was celebrating her 60th birthday with a delicious afternoon tea, and how could I possibly miss that? Especially when Bexleyheath has a rather charming station with one of the most lovely red brick canopies, just begging for a picture in my signature pink tutu. (Because, really, why just wear pink when you can embrace the whole look, right?)

Speaking of pink, my outfit for the day was positively divine. I wore a blush-hued, shimmering tutu with layers of tulle, and topped it with a white lace blouse and a pair of sassy, sparkly ballet flats. It's always a little extra, my darlings, but hey, it's my life, my style! Plus, Bexleyheath felt like the perfect setting for a touch of pink and glitz.

The journey there was a delightful adventure in itself. As a die-hard rail enthusiast, I chose to travel by train. I'm telling you, there's just something romantic about the gentle sway of a carriage and the scenic countryside views. Even more romantic, I thought, as I settled in, the plush seat welcoming, the afternoon sun dappling the windowpane - it truly felt like something out of a period drama. Of course, I took a couple of snaps to document it for my ever-growing pink tutu scrapbook, because a girl has to preserve the memories, wouldn't you agree?

Arriving at Bexleyheath, I was immediately greeted by a lively town square. It felt like the perfect location to get those lovely, whimsical photographs that look so fantastic on my @pinktututravel Instagram. You know I have to get a photo in front of everything pretty, darling! So naturally, I made a beeline for a quaint, red phone box – a true British icon. A bit of a giggle, it always reminds me of that silly movie, "The Princess Bride," with the giantess, but who needs a big, strong ogre, when you've got a trusty Tutu girl!

From there, it was onwards to the lovely tea room, where Aunt Priscilla had booked a table for us. Let me tell you, it was a pure fairytale experience. The tea room, a lovely little vintage spot called "The Bluebell Bloom," was a burst of colour and light, with delicate floral prints on the walls and pretty china on each table.

As the delicious aroma of freshly baked scones and cakes wafted through the air, I could almost hear the orchestra start playing. We ordered a feast: homemade scones, dainty sandwiches with cucumber and cream cheese, and an array of tempting pastries - each one a delightful little masterpiece. The best bit? My pink tutu didn’t look out of place at all. In fact, I reckon it actually enhanced the lovely atmosphere! The owner even told me they get a lot of tutu-clad ballerinas there, making the "Bluebell Bloom" an unofficial 'ballerina tea room,' apparently. They were even making a new tea called 'The Tutu Tango', which I felt was definitely worthy of a post on my Pink Tutu social media! I thought I’d just have a nibble and a sip, you know, just for a pic for my blog, but it turned out I was so busy trying different bits of the delightful menu, and chatting about "Giselle" and "The Sleeping Beauty" (who would have guessed Aunt Priscilla has a passion for Ballet?), that I finished the entire teapot of English breakfast tea before I even realized it. Whoops! I know what you're thinking: "Didn't your tutu get all dusty, Emma, from sitting down all that time? " Well, no! They provided these cute little tulle seat pads, like giant polka-dotted fabric squares that looked like they had been lifted from the stage. They actually complimented my tutu too! A big pink win all round!

Now, about the wildlife. I know you all know how much I love creatures of all shapes and sizes. And wouldn't you know it, right on my way to Bexleyheath station, I spotted the cutest little squirrel scampering up a tree, looking utterly adorable. Of course, I snapped a photo and posted it to my Pink Tutu Instagram story with the caption, "Even squirrels can appreciate a pink tutu!," because that’s my mantra darling: Sharing my passion for pink tutus, ballet and life!

As the afternoon light began to fade and my tutu-themed tea time concluded, it was time to head back home. It was the perfect mix of tradition, a little sprinkle of whimsy, and the warmth of family love. Bexleyheath, you charmed me! And Bexleyheath, you proved that life’s a dance, even when you're not on a stage - you just need to be willing to embrace it all!

And I certainly have embraced it! I have just booked myself a train journey up north to see the beautiful peak district for a little trip before a grueling rehearsal schedule begins in earnest for "Swan Lake" – the best part of it all? I’m hoping to do some wildlife watching during my travels up there! I’ve found some fabulous scenic routes along the canals that I am so excited about exploring.

I've got to go now darling. My "Swan Lake" choreography is starting to dance in my head already! And as always, I'll be sure to keep you all posted about my every adventure here on www.pink-tutu.com and my social media. Stay Tutu-licious and remember, everyone deserves a little pink tutu in their life. And don’t forget to join the pink tutu dance! See you soon darlings!

Emma xx
