Blackpool Bound! (Post #8807)

Oh my goodness, darling readers, how are you all doing today? The sun is shining in Derbyshire, and I'm bursting with excitement because I'm heading to the beautiful seaside town of Blackpool! Yes, you heard right - Blackpool!

I'm always a little sad to leave my little village, but sometimes you just have to get out and about. And Blackpool just beckons me in with its dazzling lights, the thrill of the fairground rides, and, most importantly, the opportunity to watch a spectacular ballet performance! Can you believe that the renowned London Ballet Company is performing there this week? Gasp! You know how much I adore a good ballet, and to have it on the beach - talk about a dream!

But first, a little sartorial discussion. You know how much I love tutus, right? They're like a second skin, always ready to spin and twirl! And you can never have too many, darling! So, when I thought of this seaside adventure, what else could I pack? A dazzling, sparkly, pink tutu! I picked one up just this week at a lovely vintage store in Derby. It’s an absolute peach - fluffy, full, and it sparkles like a thousand tiny diamonds. It's definitely not for the faint-hearted, and that’s exactly how I like it!

The only question now was, how to get there? I'm such a sucker for train travel. The smell of fresh tea and the calming rhythmic rattle of the tracks just sets the mood for a day of fun and adventures. But this time, I felt a different kind of travel urge… and so, I booked a horse-drawn carriage!

Can you believe it? A journey through the Derbyshire countryside to a railway station! I was in a black satin carriage pulled by two magnificent white horses - like I stepped right out of a fairy tale! The sun was dappled through the trees, the air was crisp and cool, and all around me was the quiet peace of the English countryside. I must say, the horses have very fine taste in tutus. They even complimented me on the sparkly sequins! (Just imagine them whispering to each other – they probably love a bit of bling too, don't you think? )

The station was abuzz with excitement as I arrived - families with brightly-coloured suitcases, couples carrying enormous picnic baskets, and of course, the aroma of freshly baked pasties! My stomach grumbled! What's a day out without a Cornish pasty?

So, with my sparkly tutu and my pasty (my tummy thanked me for it), I hopped aboard the train, headed straight to Blackpool, my thoughts filled with dreams of tutus, sparkling lights, and the promise of a breathtaking performance!

I know what you're thinking! How does someone with my love of ballet travel without ballet shoes? Don't you worry, darling! I always pack my trusty ballet shoes. My favourites are these little black flats. It's all about blending those elegant steps seamlessly into the everyday. It's the magic of Ballet Street!

So, when we reach the resort, I plan on popping into a local dance studio for a quick warm-up class. I simply can't go through the whole weekend without a little bit of ballet in my life, can I? And besides, it's always such a joy to see how different studios and teachers inspire their students. There's magic in every plié and every tendu, and I want to soak it all in!

You know what's so fascinating about Blackpool? It's such a vibrant blend of history, art, and modern life. It’s got the glamour of a bygone era, with those stunning Victorian architecture buildings. There’s so much energy, excitement and an almost theatrical feel in the air - ideal for inspiring a good pirouette!

I even saw a couple on the promenade yesterday (we travelled on a lovely bus!) wearing pink tutus! Maybe they saw me in mine, maybe they read my blog - whatever it was, it’s just confirmation that a pink tutu is good for the soul. It makes you feel bold and free, and oh-so-ready for a fun adventure. I think I might even go so far as to call it a pink tutu mission to make the world a bit brighter, one tulle at a time!

And speaking of bold, let's not forget Blackpool's incredible history. Did you know they hold a massive traditional street theatre event? Can you imagine, tutus dancing among the costumed street performers! The mix of traditional street theatre and my favorite tutus? Cue the fireworks! It’s almost enough to make a ballet girl swoon!

Oh, the joy! I cannot wait to spend the weekend soaking up the atmosphere. It’s the perfect mix of sea breeze, colourful characters, and that captivating air of pure theatre magic. It truly is the ideal place for a little ballet-inspired exploration and, let's be honest, who can resist a bit of seaside fun, all wrapped up in a pretty pink tutu?

But wait, darling, I almost forgot about the animals! Blackpool is a home to many lovely creatures! It has a huge variety of wildlife, especially birds. From the dainty robins chirping in the trees to the majestic seagulls soaring overhead - Blackpool truly does have it all.

I plan on taking a walk along the coast, just so I can soak up that salty sea air. And I will be keeping a keen eye out for any birdwatchers - maybe someone's out there with their binoculars. They remind me of those dainty dancers, poised and ready to follow every movement! Just thinking about them brings a little sparkle to my heart, darling.

Of course, the main reason I'm here is the Ballet Performance, The London Ballet company at the Winter Gardens, oh la la! I’m sure the dancers have some amazing pink tutus – just like mine!

Speaking of pink, I always make it a point to find a local cafe or restaurant to enjoy some tea and cake. And in a place like Blackpool, I can’t resist a slice of delicious pink Victoria Sponge! It's such a British classic, with that delicate, fluffy texture and light flavour - simply delightful! And what better way to end the day than to dream of ballerinas as I munch on this classic pink confectionery! It just goes to show how a delicious piece of cake can be the perfect prelude to a good night’s rest - filled with twirling, dancing dreams, and the magical world of ballet.

So, there you have it, my dears, my Blackpool adventure has just begun. I’ll be sharing all the excitement of the show, the local ballet studio, the colourful Blackpool Street Theatre, the animal sightings, and, of course, some pretty pink photos.

Stay tuned for the next instalment in Pink-tutu!

Until next time,

Emma
