Hammersmith: Tutu-ing Around Town (Post #8827) 🩰

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite Derbyshire rose, Emma, and guess what? I'm back with another fabulous post, all about my trip to Hammersmith – a haven for ballerinas like myself!

This week I had a wonderful opportunity to catch a ballet performance in the heart of London. But before I spill all the glorious details of the show, let's talk about my journey, shall we?

Because travelling is just as important to me as dancing – especially when you're arriving in style. And what could be more stylish than hopping aboard a train? It was a vintage carriage, mind you, with plush red velvet seats and a vintage, wooden bar carriage with a gorgeous pianist playing dreamy melodies – cue the fairytale music! It's all in the details, my dears!

The carriages felt like a mini escape from reality, filled with the rhythmic clattering of the wheels against the track. And if I was truly being honest, I totally felt like I was starring in my own movie. Just picture me, with my oh-so-pretty, white tulle tutu twirling playfully around my knees, catching the eye of the handsome gentleman across from me who seemed as mesmerized by my sartorial choice as I was by the charming pianist! Dramatic sigh Isn't travelling the best?!

After a truly delightful train journey (you know I wouldn't dare take a journey unless it's an absolute dream) I arrived in Hammersmith. The first thing that struck me was the gorgeous park across the street from my hotel – just waiting to be explored! And explore it I did! After unpacking my ballet essentials – I always carry a tutu in my bag – it was time for a jaunt to see what this green space had in store.

Imagine, if you will, a sun-kissed afternoon, strolling through leafy pathways under the gentle canopy of the trees, while listening to the soothing rhythm of nature – the birdsong, the rustle of leaves, and the occasional excited chirping of squirrels scurrying up the branches. There were even these little, adorable ducklings paddling in the pond.

For a moment, I could have been a character straight out of one of the ballet classics - swan lake anyone?! (And who could resist a photo with the swans themselves, in my trusty pink tutu – just for you guys!).

This lovely afternoon of peace and quiet was exactly what I needed before the grand ballet performance.

My heart was buzzing with excitement when it was time to head for the theatre. It was so grand - with a red velvet entrance that had gold detailing – the most perfect backdrop to the entrance of a ballerina like myself! And, of course, my white tutu was an essential element in this glamorous scene.

The ballet itself? Oh, darling, it was absolutely stunning!

I mean, let’s just say my tears were streaming by the end. Not just from the power of the performance (it really did leave me completely mesmerised – a truly unforgettable experience, my loves) but from the unbelievable skill of the dancers – I really felt a pang of inspiration – you know? Like the tiny little ballerina inside of me was finally emerging! (Not to mention, there was a stunning pas de deux with one dancer elevating the other – how do they do it! I just wish I could go on stage and dance myself – sigh!).

I had a wonderful chat with a sweet lady from the Royal Ballet, after the show. She was just the sweetest. Turns out she's a keen reader of the blog - what a sweetheart! And her lovely enthusiasm about ballet really warmed my heart - It’s so good to see that passion spread across every age group and I couldn’t help but beam! She was actually even sporting her own ballet flat, with some funky prints on it and that got me thinking about getting my own custom shoes – so stylish.

As my journey through Hammersmith concluded, I knew I couldn't leave without adding a touch of pink magic!

So I found myself in a quaint little vintage clothing shop – my kinda place! Imagine, endless shelves brimming with lace and silk, each piece whispering tales of bygone eras. But then, there she was - my dream - a pink fluffy jacket, just begging to be paired with my ballet skirts.

I found myself clutching that little pink cloud in my hands and, before I knew it, it was being added to my shopping bag – oops!

It was definitely a must - a perfect little detail for my growing tutu collection. That pink jacket is going to become an instant favorite, I just know it!

This Hammersmith experience proved once again – that the world can truly be a ballet! From the enchanting train ride to the captivating performance to my swoon-worthy vintage jacket, Hammersmith has won a permanent place in my heart. And what a tutu-tally perfect place to find an inspiring adventure – that's my kinda place!

So my dear darlings, you already know what I’m gonna say… grab your pink tutus, slip into those cute ballerina shoes, and go explore the magic that's waiting to be discovered - everywhere! And don’t forget to stop by www.pink-tutu.com to keep up with my adventures and all my latest inspiration.

See you all tomorrow, darlings!

Until next time…

Love,

Emma

P.S: Don’t forget to check out the amazing pictures in the comments section! I have my favourite ballet pics from the show as well as pics of my yummy meal (the afternoon tea at The Orangery was divine!). And of course, I had to share a few pics with the ducklings in the park - just because!
