Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, writing to you from the charming town of Darlington. The sun’s shining, the birds are singing, and I’m feeling totally ready to embrace this beautiful day in a stunning…red tutu! Yes, you heard that right – red. Now, you all know I’m a big fan of pink. It’s my colour, it’s my life, it’s…well, everything! But sometimes, a girl just needs a change, and today, red was calling to me. It’s fiery, bold, and a little bit cheeky – just like me!

The journey here was simply delightful. I chose to travel by train, as you do, which meant plenty of time to admire the passing scenery and daydream about pirouettes in my red tutu. Seriously, can you imagine spinning with such confidence, feeling the wind whipping through your hair and your skirt swirling around you? It’s truly a magical feeling. I even managed to strike up a conversation with a lovely lady who, much to my delight, knew all about ballet. She was raving about a local dance company and told me about their upcoming performance of Swan Lake. Now, Swan Lake is one of my absolute favourite ballets – it’s so emotive, so dramatic, and the choreography is breathtakingly beautiful. I have to go, it’s a must!

Darlington itself is a proper gem. We wandered around the charming town centre, enjoying a leisurely afternoon stroll and marveling at the beautiful Victorian architecture. We even saw a few swans on a pond - a real symbol of my current dance-tastic state.

But for me, the highlight of the day was the visit to the Darlington Hippodrome. Now, this is a theatre with history – it’s a stunning building and it holds so many magical memories. The feeling of stepping inside, imagining the crowds cheering on their favourite performers, the laughter and the applause – it just makes me feel like I'm in a storybook. They have a ballet coming to the venue, too! The perfect place to catch some culture and feel the inspiration of the stage.

I think my love of theatre comes from growing up in Derbyshire. Derbyshire, oh how I love thee. The lush rolling hills, the stunning countryside, and the beautiful quaint villages are all so idyllic. Plus, the fresh air makes your body feel amazing for those long hours of training at the barre!

Speaking of dance, I managed to squeeze in a little practice at a lovely dance studio tucked away on a cobbled street. There’s something about the feel of wooden floors, the scent of old pointe shoes, and the sound of music that makes me feel like I’m truly home. It's also been a while since I’ve gotten a chance to dance on a new stage. The feel of it always sends me back to my own journey. Being a ballet dancer takes a lot of strength, determination, and a healthy dose of courage, It takes years and years of dedicated training to master even the simplest movements.

Speaking of strength and courage, I think we can all learn something from the creatures of the animal kingdom. I got to meet a wonderful family of deer just outside the town and I have to say they were incredibly graceful and poised. Watching them glide through the trees and leap over obstacles reminded me of the kind of movement I’m trying to achieve in my dancing.

And finally, a message to all my readers – don’t forget that you can be a ballerina too! We all have that inner spark, that love of movement and beauty, and it’s waiting to be unleashed. So go on, embrace your inner ballerina. Put on your favourite pink tutu – or even try a bold red like me! And if you’re feeling extra brave, take a ballet class, maybe even audition for a performance!

Until next time, my lovely readers, remember to keep your heads high, your spirits soaring, and your pink tutus ready to go! I'm signing off now, from sunny Darlington and heading back to Derbyshire with a smile on my face and a dance in my heart.
