Cumbernauld Calling! Tutu Travels #8908 🩰💖

Hello my darling tutu-loving lovelies! It's Emma here, back from my whirlwind trip to Cumbernauld, a little town nestled in Scotland's central belt.

This was a bit of a surprise trip - sometimes you just need a bit of a spontaneous adventure, right? And let me tell you, Cumbernauld did not disappoint! I'd heard whispers of this quaint town from fellow ballet enthusiasts, stories of vibrant community and a love for the dance. Naturally, my pink tutu was packed and ready to go.

The journey itself was a joy - I travelled by train, windows open, the fresh Scottish air swirling my tutu. Watching the world go by from my window seat is pure bliss. I feel most at peace when I'm travelling this way, letting the scenery take my worries away.

Cumbernauld itself was charming. A lovely mix of old and new architecture, with friendly faces and a distinct warmth in the air. And guess what? They even have a thriving ballet community! I felt right at home, instantly drawn to the friendly smiles and infectious energy at the local ballet school. It was so much fun watching the little dancers twirl in their tutus, just like I did when I was their age. They’re already inspired by the beauty of ballet, it was wonderful to see!

I snuck in a class myself, just for fun - because who can resist a little pirouette on a chilly Scottish afternoon, even if it is with just a tiny handful of dancers? I swear, I must have had a permanent grin plastered on my face. My pink tutu was swirling happily along, keeping the tempo, and, as usual, my love of dance was renewed.

Of course, I had to indulge in some local delights – Cumbernauld’s famous “Cumbernauld Sausage Supper”, and a delightful scone and cream tea from the village bakery, which tasted heavenly. I can't tell you how much I love trying new foods on my travels!

My time in Cumbernauld wouldn’t have been complete without a ballet performance, naturally. It was in a tiny community theatre with the quaintest of stages and an audience made up of people of all ages. They were so enthralled, laughing at the comical bits and cheering on the leaps and turns with genuine excitement. It really touched me to see how passionate everyone was about the art form. There was magic in the air. It reminded me just how powerful and universally enjoyed the art of ballet can be.

A quick tip for all you aspiring travellers: if you’re in Cumbernauld, you have to see the red deer that graze near the town’s lake. Their coats are incredibly beautiful, especially at sunset. I even caught a few grazing in the golden sunlight and managed to snap some adorable photos, though nothing compares to seeing them in their natural habitat, just wandering around like they own the place.

Leaving Cumbernauld was bittersweet. I felt refreshed and invigorated by the fresh air and kind faces. But I know I’ll be back - I have to find out what's with the local cheese production in the nearby region - they do say the dairy here is divine. Maybe even try a wee bit of Highland Dancing, who knows? I just know that there are more tutu adventures waiting for me out there in the world, and I can’t wait to explore them.

I truly believe in the magic of travel, my lovelies. It broadens your horizons, connects you to new cultures, and ultimately enriches your soul. Remember, life is an adventure! And, of course, always remember to wear your pink tutu when you venture out into the world. I'm sure I'll bump into you out there, whether it's on a train ride, at a ballet performance or in the wild, enjoying the delights of our incredible planet!

Stay tuned for more tutu tales - there’s always another adventure waiting around the corner.

Keep twirling! 💖

Love,

Emma
