TutuBlog #8956: Leighton Buzzard Whirlwind in Pink!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and today, I'm twirling into a new adventure in the delightful town of Leighton Buzzard, a hop, skip, and jump from my Derbyshire home. I can't resist a train journey – it feels like the ultimate glamorous ballet commute, wouldn't you agree? I always pack my trusty tutu, just in case an impromptu performance calls. Who knows where inspiration might strike!

This week has been a whirlwind of "pliΓ©s" and "pirouettes". My schedule was a delightful ballet ballet-rama: morning class with the Royal Academy, a midday dress rehearsal at the Sadler's Wells Theatre, followed by an evening performance of "The Sleeping Beauty." Honestly, my dear readers, my tootsies were aching for a well-deserved rest!

And of course, a good tutu needs to be complimented with the most fabulous of attire. A chic pink dress? Check! Sparkly ballet flats that sparkle like a million stars? Absolutely! Every ballerina needs a little bling, don't you think?

Let's talk Leighton Buzzard! This lovely town in Bedfordshire was the perfect escape for this weekend. I'd heard whispered rumours about its charm and its lovely, quirky shops. And rumours rarely disappoint, my dears!

Firstly, let's talk tea. A quintessentially English afternoon tea with fluffy cakes and steaming cups of Earl Grey at The Old Bakehouse was exactly what the doctor ordered! I was treated to a delectable selection of homemade pastries, scones, sandwiches and an absolute riot of colourfully decorated cupcakes - perfect for my inner sugar-loving ballerina.

I do love a bit of retail therapy, and Leighton Buzzard did not disappoint! It boasts independent boutiques, charming art galleries, antique shops brimming with treasures from days gone by. It's just so unique and picturesque, and I fell in love with a beautiful vintage china tea set at a delightful shop called "The Dusty Attic."

My tutu of the day? A blush-pink, hand-beaded confection with cascading ruffles. Oh, the sparkle! It was an absolute triumph when paired with my trusty ballet bag, which I've lovingly adorned with pink feathers. And naturally, my ballet pumps, adorned with pink velvet ribbon.

After all that shopping, a good dose of culture was needed. The Leighton Buzzard Library had an exhibition on the local wildlife – did you know a barn owl can turn its head almost all the way around?! I found it so fascinating. It seems leighton buzzard's got wildlife watching opportunities, too. Maybe we can make a day of wildlife spotting next time?

Leighton Buzzard is truly a hidden gem – perfect for a weekend escape, or even just a day trip. With a heart of gold, and a real sense of community, I felt instantly at home here.

Did you know that in 2017, Leighton Buzzard won "Best Town Centre in England" ? It's clear to see why.

Remember my motto, dears: embrace life, and never be afraid to embrace the tutu! Who knows what adventures are awaiting us all around the country?

Love, Emma

xx
