Wigston Magna Calling! (Post #8982) ๐ฉฐ๐ฎ๐น
Hello my lovely tutu-loving darlings! ๐ It's Emma here, and oh my goodness, do I have a fabulous adventure to tell you about! I've just returned from a whirlwind trip to Wigston Magna, a charming little town in Leicestershire that somehow manages to be both picturesque and totally unexpected. I must admit, before heading there, I was envisioning a place teeming withโฆ well, cows. Because, you know, "Magna" - itโs a word that conjures up images of rolling hills and bucolic charm. ๐
Turns out, while Wigston Magna definitely has its share of charming countryside, it's also a hidden gem for a ballet enthusiast like me! ๐ฉฐ
My journey began in my usual Derbyshire fashion - on a magnificent steed (okay, it was actually the train, but you know what I mean!). ๐ The scenery flitted past my window as if in a dreamy ballet - vibrant greens, sleepy villages, and even a glimpse of a majestic hawk circling above. Talk about artistic inspiration! ๐ฆ
Wigston Magna itself, despite its lack of actual 'magnum', welcomed me with open arms (and, luckily, no actual cows in sight!). ๐โโ๏ธ I'd booked myself a little Airbnb with a truly delightful host who, thankfully, didn't mind a flamboyant ballerina in a hot pink tutu gracing her hallway. Pink, darling, is always a good choice! ๐
My mission for the trip was a simple one: to soak up the local culture, explore the ballet scene, and (naturally) wear a stunning Italian tutu to the very last stitch! ๐ฎ๐น The tutu I chose was absolutely divine, with layers of shimmering fabric, a generous amount of sparkle, and the most delicious shade of petal pink - the colour for my ballerina soul, naturally! ๐ธ
First stop - a charming local coffee shop, brimming with the chatter of regulars and the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked cakes. A slice of carrot cake and a cappuccino never tasted so good. ๐ While I was savouring every crumb, I got chatting with a delightful local who turned out to be a retired ballet teacher! Now, thatโs a stroke of luck! ๐คฉ
She gave me a fascinating tour of the Wigston Magna Library, which houses a collection of beautiful old ballet books and programs from the town's past - fascinating glimpses of a bygone era! ๐
My afternoon was dedicated to exploring the streets, and oh, darling, it was absolutely picturesque. Cobbled lanes, quaint shops, and enough hidden gardens to satisfy even the most discerning green thumb! ๐ณ And letโs be honest, no wander through a charming town is complete without a delicious gelato. My pick? Stracciatella, of course, with its little flecks of dark chocolate โ the perfect accompaniment to my perfectly pink tutu! ๐จ
Then, the grand finale: a captivating performance at the local theatre, Wigston Magna Playhouse, a tiny space overflowing with magic and a real community spirit. ๐ญ It was a beautifully curated program of dance, incorporating both traditional ballet pieces and contemporary choreographies. The dancers were absolutely sensational! So much talent! It was inspiring and moved me to tearsโฆ you know, a ballet performance always manages to hit me in all the right feels. ๐ฅบ
Before heading back to my little Airbnb, I spent an evening in the nearby park, listening to the owls calling out to each other and marveling at the twinkling night sky above. ๐ฆ Just a beautiful end to an unforgettable day.
And now, here I am back in my Derbyshire studio, swirling in the memory of the elegant dancers, the aroma of freshly brewed tea, and, of course, the fabulous, shimmery, pink tutu that stole the show. ๐
My trip to Wigston Magna has reminded me of the beauty found in unexpected corners of the world and the joy of a little ballet adventure. You know what they say โ life is too short to not be living in a pink tutu, exploring and embracing all that the world has to offer! ๐
So, what are you waiting for, darlings? Let's get twirling! ๐
Love,
Emma www.pink-tutu.com
