Kendal Calling: A Pink Tutu Adventure!

Post 9000: Let's Tutu This Town!

Hello my darling dancers! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, back with another post from www.pink-tutu.com. Today I'm feeling especially sassy as I'm sharing my recent adventures from a quintessentially British weekend away in the lovely town of Kendal. Now, I'm a true Derbyshire girl at heart, but Kendal, with its cobbled streets and charming shops, felt like a right little escape. Plus, there's a great cafe serving the best carrot cake I've ever had, and, well, you know how I feel about a good slice of cake!

As you all know, I love nothing more than twirling around in a pretty pink tutu, and my latest masterpiece (a gorgeous ombre pink one, with a hint of lilac, no less!) made the perfect travelling companion. This little beauty had never travelled by train before, but trust me, it was a right hoot! We even got a bit of attention on the journey.

"Isn't she lovely?"

"I bet you can twirl like a dream!"

"You look fabulous, darling!"

The compliments just kept on coming! It's amazing how a pink tutu can make people so happy, don't you think? I guess that's my mission, really: to spread joy through dance and tutus!

When I arrived in Kendal, the weather was absolutely glorious. Sunny, but with a crisp autumnal breeze. This meant I could showcase my fabulous outfit without freezing! A fluffy white cashmere jumper, tucked into my tutu, my signature pink ballet flats, and a delicate, lacey bolero to add a touch of elegance. Perfect for exploring Kendal's shops and cafes.

And explore, we did! There were antique shops overflowing with trinkets and treasures, cosy tea rooms filled with the scent of freshly brewed tea, and a stunning book shop that would make any bibliophile’s heart skip a beat. I spent an afternoon wandering through its rows of books, inhaling the dusty, yet magical scent.

But the highlight of my Kendal adventure, by far, was the local ballet class. It was tucked away on a back street, in an old building with high ceilings and beautifully worn wooden floors. There were only five other students in the class, and the teacher, a gentleman with a twinkle in his eye, was absolutely delightful. He even taught me a few new tricks, like a pirouette that landed with a perfect "click"!

Feeling invigorated from a fantastic workout, I treated myself to a spot of tea at a cafe, which overlooked the River Kent. Sitting by the window, enjoying a delicious Earl Grey and a piece of that delectable carrot cake, I reflected on just how lucky I am to get to travel, discover new places, and dance. Life really is a ballet!

Speaking of ballets, my adventure wouldn’t be complete without a little culture, would it? And Kendal didn't disappoint! There was a stunning theatre featuring a performance of the classic Swan Lake. The stage was alive with graceful movements, soaring jumps, and expressive gestures. The ballet was a truly enchanting experience, and it was a delight to be surrounded by other ballet enthusiasts who appreciate the art of movement and storytelling through dance.

You know, this weekend made me think about just how connected we all are through dance. No matter what language we speak or what country we’re from, dance speaks to us all. It allows us to express emotions, tell stories, and simply joy. That's why I always say you can never wear a tutu too often.

Here are a few final thoughts to make you think:

  • Where is your favourite place to wear your pink tutu?
  • What's the most unusual place you've ever danced?
  • Do you have a favourite ballet performance or class?

Please share your thoughts and experiences in the comments section below! Until next time, darling dancers, remember, the world is a ballet stage. Dance like no one is watching!

Lots of love,

Emma

xx
