Pont-y-pool Prance: A Tutu Adventure!

Hey gorgeous,

It’s Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, and guess what? I'm on a new adventure, fuelled by a caffeine hit and a giant pink cupcake. Post number 9003 - let’s go!

So, imagine my delight when I spotted a gorgeous, deep-orange tutu, peeking out from a vintage shop in Derby yesterday. I had to have it, obviously. My collection needs some more zing and this sunshine-bright tutu was simply calling my name.

“Orange you glad you bought this?!” I squealed, giggling to myself as I swished it around my apartment. You can’t help but be cheerful when you’re wearing a fabulous tutu – trust me!

It’s a glorious sunny day in Derbyshire, and you know what that means, right? It's a perfect day to take the train to my favourite place: Pont-y-pool. A little bit of Welsh whimsy always perks up my day.

Now, the train journey from Derby to Pont-y-pool is something else. The scenery is like a film set - green hills rolling by, sleepy little villages dotted about, and the occasional mischievous squirrel scampering across the tracks.

I usually travel in my comfy ballet outfit, perfect for those sudden moments of pirouette inspiration! But, this time, I've got a special mission in mind, something sparkly and utterly unexpected… you see, today's all about my newest orange friend!

Once in Pont-y-pool, I'm taking this fabulous tutu for a spin – literally! The main square in Pont-y-pool has an open-air space where street dancers come to show off their moves. Now, I might not be the best street dancer, but my tutu-wearing spirit certainly makes a splash!

There's something wonderful about ballet outside the confines of a studio or theatre. The sun on your face, the breeze in your hair, and a splash of pink or orange tutu against a grey stone backdrop – pure joy!

While I was twirling my way through Pont-y-pool, a group of kids watched with wide eyes and a bunch of grown-up ladies with twinkling eyes started swaying and clapping along. Honestly, it was magic! I can see why more and more people are doing ballet outdoors - it's simply contagious.

My dance session got interrupted by a call from my favourite bakery. You guessed it! Cake time! Nothing makes me happier than a delicious slice of Victoria Sponge, served with a side of fluffy cream and an extra sprinkling of pink sugar. This is the kind of day that calls for an extravagant tea party, and Pont-y-pool certainly delivered.

As the afternoon progressed, I strolled through the winding streets, soaking in the local vibe. Pont-y-pool is like a hidden gem, full of character and surprises. I loved admiring the local shops filled with homemade trinkets and the quirky cafe culture with mismatched chairs and charming little corners for reading and contemplation.

Naturally, no Pont-y-pool adventure is complete without a visit to the famous botanical gardens. The gardens are a beautiful haven of vibrant flowers, buzzing bees, and butterflies flitting between the lush greenery. I even caught sight of a shy family of squirrels scampering up an ancient oak tree, adding to the wild magic of this green paradise.

After my time amongst the flora and fauna, the day was starting to fade, the sky was painted with the most beautiful shades of pink and purple. What a beautiful way to say goodbye to Pont-y-pool!

This day trip to Pont-y-pool was like a delicious dance on my palate. A beautiful blend of charming architecture, whimsical cafes, a burst of vibrant street dance, a touch of pink-tutu magic, and a slice of pure cake joy.

My day is full of heart, laughter, and the infectious energy of a tutu. Who would have thought that an orange tutu could make me so happy? Pont-y-pool certainly turned my world upside down in the most magical way.
