Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, ready to whisk you away on another glamorous adventure! 💖 This time, I'm channeling my inner Victorian ballerina and swapping my Derbyshire hills for the charming seaside town of Broadstairs, Kent! 🌊
I arrived at the station, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in my favourite baby pink tutu, feeling like a fairytale princess stepping off the train. My trusty steed (aka my trusty suitcase) was brimming with dazzling tutus – you know me, I can't resist a good tutu-licious wardrobe – and my favourite ballet shoes, ready for an afternoon of ballet exploration!
But before we dive into the twirling fun, let's talk about this beautiful town! Broadstairs has been a haven for artists, writers and performers since the Victorian era. 🏘️ It's a beautiful mix of seaside charm and cultural vibrancy. Just picturing it makes me bursting with excitement! ✨
First stop: the Theatre Royal! A little gem nestled in the heart of town, it boasts a fascinating history, having played host to renowned performers throughout its long life. Did you know, it's been used as a barracks in wartime! Can you imagine? 🤯
After admiring the Victorian architecture of the theatre (which made my heart flutter, it was SO elegant!), I scooted along to my ballet class! This studio is seriously impressive, with soaring ceilings and enough space for even the most grand jeté. 🤸♀️ Let me tell you, I felt like a real ballet superstar in that studio! ✨
But before we got down to the business of perfecting my pirouettes, we had some fantastic fun with barre exercises. This wasn't your typical, run-of-the-mill ballet class though. Our instructor had us doing everything from pliés while balancing on bouncy balls to squeezing our inner thigh muscles like nobody's business! 🍑 Let me tell you, I felt like I was back in my teenage years, giggling and gossiping with my friends! 🤫
You know, it really strikes me how ballet is about more than just dancing. It's about building strength and flexibility, improving coordination and instilling confidence in your body. Every movement, every stretch, every plié… It all contributes to your overall well-being. 🌸
But let's talk about the biggest reason I was so excited for this trip – The Mermaid! This Victorian era boat is a charming little attraction that just begs for a good ballet-inspired photo shoot. So, guess what I did? 😏 Of course, I posed for some pictures, channeling the elegant, graceful energy of a real-life ballerina. 🌸 You know me, I couldn't resist a little tutu-tastic action shot with the sea in the background! 📸
Of course, a trip to Broadstairs wouldn't be complete without a spot of seafood! 😋 I indulged in some fresh, delicious fish and chips by the harbour, watching the boats bobbing up and down, and soaking in the vibrant energy of the town. And after dinner, I enjoyed a relaxing stroll along the beach, breathing in the salty sea air and feeling content and joyful – something I strive to cultivate everyday! 😌
Did you know, this town is steeped in history? I learned so much! There's a fascinating tale of a shipwreck that occurred here many years ago. Can you imagine the thrill of living a life of adventure at sea? It made me realise I need to add sailing to my "to try" list! ⛵️
Later, as I tucked into my evening tea (complete with pink shortbread cookies!), I reminisced about my day. The vibrant energy of this place made my soul soar! The architecture was enchanting, the sea sparkled like a thousand stars, and I felt truly at one with my ballet-inspired journey!
