Rugby, a Pink Tutu, and a Whiff of Country Air – #TutuBlog Post 9120

Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, bringing you a fresh dose of pink and pirouettes straight from the heart of Rugby, the town that feels more country than city, but don't tell anyone, that's our little secret!

Let me tell you, I was so excited about this trip, you wouldn't believe it! After weeks of non-stop city life, my heart ached for rolling hills and open skies, a breath of fresh air to inspire my creative flow. I knew Rugby was the place to be! There was an irresistible lure to its charming streets and historic atmosphere – all the ingredients to spark my muse!

The first order of the day was to reach Rugby. Let's face it, driving in my cute little pink convertible with the top down is divine. It's practically a dream for an afternoon jaunt! But for a more proper British adventure, I had to take the train. And my dears, don't think for a moment I wasn't dressed for the occasion! My bright pink tutu flowed perfectly as I swayed to the rhythmic clatter of the tracks. All the passengers smiled – well, I assume it was the tutu, right?

The town greeted me with warm open arms, or at least warm buildings. And what greeted my eyes was just magnificent! Think of historic stone architecture, cosy pubs, independent shops with the quaintest window displays. Every nook and cranny was a whimsical postcard! But don’t think for a second it lacked that metropolitan vibrancy!

You see, dear readers, I love finding beauty in unexpected places. Like the bustling market square brimming with life – just what a city girl craves for a day's shopping. I am in love with the independent boutiques in Rugby – each one overflowing with quirky delights. But let's be honest, it wouldn't be an Emma adventure without a little retail therapy. And oh my goodness, did I find the perfect pastel pink beret in a shop hidden down a charming back street. It's destined to be a show-stopper for my next ballet performance!

But Rugby's magic goes beyond the surface. It whispers secrets from the past, the tales of giants! You see, there's a world of history waiting to be unearthed here. It seems a place to take the air in the country and experience something special. The Rugby School is a beautiful testament to heritage - a place of learning and tradition, it's an absolute must-visit! You have to see its hallowed halls and wander through the serene gardens. I could imagine so many young lads practicing their grand jetes!

However, for my ballet heart, there was one place I simply had to find. Tucked away on a side street, just a short trot from the main market square, was the most divine little ballet studio – the 'Twirling Thistle!' My dear, its façade was an ode to Victorian elegance with stained-glass windows and ornate railings. A charming sign simply read, "Welcome Dancers." How could I possibly resist?

Of course, it had to be my first port of call. I had to get that endorphin rush, the intoxicating feeling of being on pointe again. With the gentle guidance of the charming teacher, the studio came alive! It wasn’t your usual big studio with barre work. The space was intimate, cosy, the floor wooden with that satisfying 'tap, tap' when your shoes land on it. The only sound besides the 'tap, tap' was our quiet breaths, we moved like the wind, we were graceful like birds in flight. And guess what? They even have a ballet dress and tutu shop in the studio! Oh, how I wish I had my suitcase full of pink and glitter here!

Don’t think for a second, I forgot about that famous rugby ball that everyone seems to love so much, I went down to the world famous rugby museum! Now that is one of the most exciting places I have ever been. Just imagine all the history that walks through those walls. I can already hear those cheering crowds – "Touchdown!" But alas, it was just me with a pink tutu in the photo booth taking snaps with the biggest, fanciest rugby ball imaginable! That said, it gave me an excuse to really strike a pose!

I also wanted a taste of the countryside life. What's better than galloping on a handsome horse with a pink tutu fluttering in the wind? Oh darling, the countryside here is just divine! There was such peace and serenity - a stunning tapestry of emerald green hills dotted with quaint cottages and fields bathed in golden sunlight. The air was so clean it practically kissed my cheeks, reminding me how I long to return to those bucolic lands where my spirit can freely soar! It made for such a great opportunity to capture some amazing pictures – my Instagram followers were obsessed!

Now, for a city girl like me, nothing beats a bit of theatre and spectacle! Rugby Theatre turned out to be the perfect ending to a magical day. Oh darling, let me tell you about the show I saw – it was utterly brilliant. There was so much talent on stage, the singing, the dancing – it left me spellbound. My feet simply tapped along to every beat. But let's be real, my favourite part? The flamboyant costume designs – I especially adored the leading lady's glittering pink gown, a beautiful homage to my signature style, if I do say so myself!

And the cherry on top of the whole weekend was a picnic in the sunshine, just outside of the Rugby town, surrounded by gorgeous views and wildlife. Imagine, darling, a sprawling field covered in wild daisies and a big picnic basket brimming with delicious sandwiches and fresh scones! Oh, and my secret indulgence – a bottle of sparkling lemonade. The setting couldn't have been more idyllic. And me? Of course I was in my pinkest tutu. Who would I be otherwise?!

There is just something truly special about the spirit of Rugby – it has such an intriguing air of heritage and magic. Every step you take leads to something new and exciting. I can't help but imagine all the enchanting tales these cobblestone streets have witnessed throughout the ages, it felt so romantic. You could even say it was as magical as one of my favourite ballet routines.

My adventures have come to an end here in Rugby – for now at least! And already, I’m missing the countryside, the vibrant shops, the captivating ballet studio, and the breathtaking history. And of course, there is something utterly irresistible about wearing a tutu amongst such rolling, open spaces. So why don’t you go and do the same, it doesn't have to be Rugby, but anywhere in your countryside would be perfect. Don’t forget to post your photos on social media with #TutuTravels. It’s been a whirlwind of a time, and I feel reinvigorated and ready to embrace more adventures, more pink, and most importantly – more ballet.

So stay tuned, my dears! Next stop… perhaps a countryside farm for some frolicking with adorable fluffy sheep or a weekend horse-riding expedition, it will be full of countryside and even more pink. There are endless possibilities on the horizon, and I can't wait to share them with you!

Until next time, love Emma!
