Boston Bound: Pink Tutus and City Lights - #9129

Hey everyone,

It's Emma here, and it's time for another TutuBlog adventure! Buckle up, my lovelies, because we're off to the big city... Boston! Now, I know you're thinking "Emma, how on earth do you get to Boston without flying? " Well, dear readers, the magic of rail is about to take centre stage. A journey across the Atlantic? Why, it's like a scene straight out of my favourite film, Murder on the Orient Express, only without the murder (hopefully). I'm on a glorious, grand railway adventure. The sheer delight of tucking myself into a plush carriage and gazing out the window at the scenery. Oh, I just love those scenic train journeys!

But first, a quick update. My home county of Derbyshire has been sweltering! I've even found myself watching the red kites circling high above in the sweltering sunshine - majestic creatures with their wingspan of 5.5 feet. How amazing nature can be.

Anyway, back to Boston. I had a feeling this was going to be an amazing trip and, so far, it's been absolutely sensational!

A tutu of pink delight!

Naturally, I had to pack my pink tutu. After all, Boston's going to get a taste of Derbyshire fashion! A wide one this time, with lots of swishy tulle that will look just fantastic with the cityscape as a backdrop. I’m going to post a shot of it by the swan boats in the Public Garden - they’re so iconic, so pretty and very pink! I am hoping to try and catch some of them at sunset; a magical sight that might even be prettier than my pink tutu - perhaps. I'm feeling so excited.

Now, on to the ballet part! This week, I’m hoping to see some performances, including the stunning Giselle, and also watch a contemporary piece at the beautiful Wang Theatre. You know, you can’t go to Boston without taking in some incredible theatre, it’s the city of ballet and dance!

I’ve been doing my fair share of research – Boston seems to have a thriving ballet scene. There are some fantastic studios, including The School of American Ballet - imagine, training alongside future prima ballerinas, it makes me giddy just thinking about it! I might even slip on my pointe shoes and have a little practice in their dance studios, it might make for a brilliant blog post. I bet those studios are as pretty as a fairytale ballet scene - they'll certainly be much nicer than my usual gym back home, that’s for sure.

And don’t even get me started on the incredible places to eat. I mean, what could be more delicious than Boston clam chowder? And the lobster! Oh, my stomach’s already churning at the thought! Of course, I’m going to try them all - they are totally my favourite food (well, tied with pastries).

And let’s not forget the iconic Beacon Hill with its cobbled streets and stunning houses, that beautiful historic Boston Common… and oh, how I'm looking forward to browsing all the chic boutiques, finding vintage dresses, antique trinkets, and… you guessed it… pink!

I'm thinking I need to take a couple of pairs of those lovely white leather ballerina pumps; one pair with some embellishments (that will look great with my pink tutu), and one pair for daytime wear. It’ll all be going on my Instagram feed of course.

Oh, and I’m definitely buying some beautiful antique books and jewellery (perhaps with pearls?)…

All that… and even time for horses?

There's something else on the Boston agenda that has me practically neighing with delight - the Boston Horse Show. Yes, you read that right! Horse lovers, rejoice! My favourite thing to do after a long day exploring a city, is nothing more than to indulge in my equestrian obsession. And a trip to the horse show is simply a must.

So many possibilities! I imagine seeing sleek Friesian horses with their flowing black manes, thoroughbreds, and majestic Shires. Who knows, I might even get the chance to touch their beautiful noses - just picture it! All those powerful and graceful animals in one place… It’ll definitely be a very Instagrammable moment.

Ballet Inspiration

Honestly, it’s amazing being able to use my love for ballet to explore new cities. Every place I go, it feels like a beautiful stage waiting to be performed on, waiting to be danced on. The buildings, the people, the vibrant streets, the stories and energy of each place all inspires me, gives me that rush of inspiration, and makes me want to dance. I’ve always been passionate about dance, from my earliest years, taking my first ballet steps. Even now, all I want to do is twirl, twirl, twirl in this magnificent pink tutu, that’s why my aim in life is for everyone to wear a pink tutu and experience the wonderful feeling of being on pointe! Maybe someday it'll even happen - what a spectacular world it would be, wouldn't it?

And speaking of pointe, remember, ballet’s all about pushing boundaries and always working towards something new. There are plenty of inspirational people on Instagram, who post regular videos and are so stylish too. Who better to inspire us?

The world is our stage, my dears! Every day’s a new adventure, every step a graceful leap of faith… and I’ll be there documenting it all on the pink tutu blog! It’s a pink, pretty and fun, adventure, full of beautiful ballerinas, and lots of glitter too.

Until next time, happy dancing!

Love, Emma xx
