Lancaster: A Pink Tutu Pilgrimage
#9161
Hello darlings! Emma here, and I'm back with another extra post from my latest adventure – this time, it's all about Lancaster, a town that stole my heart with its charming cobbled streets and breath-taking views. Now, you know my mantra – if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing in a fabulous tutu, and this trip was no exception.
The journey started in the most whimsical way – a horseback ride through the rolling Derbyshire countryside. Yes, you heard right! My trusty steed, "Willow" (who's also a bit of a drama queen), carried me straight into the heart of Lancaster. It was a picture-perfect day – the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and my pink tutu was shimmering in all its glory.
The moment I arrived, the vibrant atmosphere of Lancaster captivated me. It’s the perfect mix of traditional charm and modern energy. I had a little chuckle when I saw a group of young lads sporting “Lancaster Lads” shirts. I knew then this town was full of life and personality.
I found the most charming hotel tucked away in a side street – the “The Old Hall,” steeped in history and adorned with blooming roses. Now, you all know how much I love a touch of romance, so I instantly felt at home. They even had a pretty, pink chaise longue in my room where I could sit and dream about my ballet career.
My first stop in Lancaster had to be the grand theatre – “The Grand.” Oh, darling, let me tell you – this is no ordinary theatre! Imagine, glittering chandeliers, velvet curtains that seem to sigh with every opening and closing, and a stage so vast it practically begs you to perform upon it! I can already picture myself gracing this stage with a new ballet interpretation of “Romeo and Juliet”.
The rest of the day was a whirlwind of pink-tutu explorations. I explored Lancaster Castle, its imposing grandeur almost eclipsed by its impressive castle walls, so reminiscent of French Chateaux. A bit of "faire la belle", of course, posed on top of a stone arch with my favourite pink tutu – a picture perfect backdrop. Then it was time to experience the quirky charm of Lancaster Market, filled with local artisan goods, delicious food, and, naturally, some incredibly cute clothing that made me wish I had brought an extra suitcase.
Later that evening, I had dinner at The Water Witch – an amazing pub nestled by the Lancaster Canal. They have the most fabulous mussels I've ever eaten (in the perfect sauce, naturally), and let me tell you, the atmosphere was magical.
And how did I conclude this truly extraordinary day? Well, I decided to embrace my love for the wild things and booked a slot on a "Wild Lancaster" nature tour. We went to see the famous Lancaster bay with all its beautiful birdlife and majestic views. The sunsets were beyond words – and yes, I did stand there, surrounded by wild life, with my pink tutu swaying in the gentle breeze.
To top it off, I even treated myself to a hot air balloon ride over the Cumbrian Lakes - the views were incredible and, trust me, there’s no better way to get a perspective on things. And yes, I wore a special tutu for that experience too – just the perfect colour to blend in with the sunrise.
Lancaster is an amazing place full of history, culture and excitement. From the historic theatre and grand castle, to its lovely canal side pubs, charming markets and vibrant shops – you’ll find something to spark joy at every turn. I left my heart in Lancaster (and a touch of glitter too), feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready to embrace the rest of the week with the energy and colour of my pink tutu.
And remember – every single one of you has a unique flair that makes you special. Don’t be afraid to express yourself, wear the colours you love, and embrace life's adventures with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your lips. And maybe just maybe, consider joining me in wearing a pink tutu once in a while. It’s more fun than you could imagine.
I'll be back soon with more adventures from my travels – and if you have a favourite pink tutu adventure or a pink tutu wish you want to tell me about – feel free to leave a comment on my Pink-Tutu page. Until then, happy travels darlings.
With love,
Emma xx
