Eltham: Tutu Adventures in a Purple Paradise

Hello, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger, back from another whimsical adventure, this time in the charming town of Eltham. Now, I know what you’re thinking: Eltham? Not the most glamorous destination, right? But trust me, this little corner of South East London held a hidden gem, and of course, I wore the perfect tutu for the occasion.

Let’s start with the outfit, shall we? It was a vibrant purple, a touch bolder than my usual pinks, but equally delightful. This wasn’t just any purple though – it shimmered with tiny silver flecks, making me feel like a modern day fairy. A tiny pink flower tucked into the waistband added a touch of sweetness, and a pair of dainty ballet pumps finished off the look. I simply cannot resist a tutu, especially when it twirls as effortlessly as this one.

Now, onto Eltham! It’s a quiet town with a surprisingly rich history, a beautiful park with a stunning manor house, and of course, the highlight of my trip: the Eltham Palace. Stepping into this medieval palace felt like a leap into time, complete with moat, turrets and magnificent tapestries. The sheer size of the place made me feel like a tiny ballerina, twirling beneath the vast stone arches.

Of course, no visit to a historic site would be complete without a dose of ballet. My trusty book, ‘Ballet in History’, always comes with me on my adventures. Reading about the graceful figures and elaborate costumes from bygone eras perfectly complimented the grandeur of the Palace. Imagine the graceful swans and spirited fairies pirouetting in these very halls! I imagined it so vividly that I couldn’t resist twirling a little myself, with my purple tutu catching the dappled light streaming through the stained glass windows.

Leaving the Palace, I wandered through the delightful Eltham Park, the afternoon sun painting the grass with a warm glow. The peace and beauty of this green haven reminded me of my childhood days in Derbyshire, exploring the rolling hills and woodlands with my Dad. We'd go on long walks, my imagination soaring with every rustling leaf, every playful breeze. Ah, those childhood memories – I miss the innocence and freedom, but I also carry that love of nature with me everywhere I go.

Now, a girl can’t spend a day in a historic town without indulging in some delightful treats. Eltham, despite its size, boasts a charming little independent cafe called "The Little Pink Cup". Now, the name itself appealed to me, and the owner was such a delight - she immediately got my "Pink-Tutu" vibe. The little tea shop was a haven of delicate china cups and homemade cakes. The lemon drizzle was truly heavenly and a perfect finish to a day of adventure.

And what’s an adventure without a journey, you ask? Why, the journey was almost as exciting as the destination itself! This time, I decided to hop aboard a charming vintage train for a journey to Eltham, a real nostalgic trip, smelling that lovely scent of old wood and the clattering of the rails, all part of the experience. Sometimes I just love a journey, any journey really. It’s the journey that inspires me, sparks my imagination. And you never know who you might meet on a journey!

Speaking of inspiring others, my mission continues to spread the love of ballet and the joy of a pink tutu. Even here in the heart of England, I couldn't resist encouraging the locals to join me. It’s a funny thing – when you twirl in a pink tutu, the world opens up. A kind stranger gave me the biggest smile and asked, "Are you going to a fancy dress party?". And another woman remarked how beautiful the tutu looked against the green backdrop.

Eltham may be an unexpected choice, but it proved to be a lovely little getaway. It was a reminder that beauty and magic can be found anywhere, and sometimes the most charming destinations lie in the unexpected corners.

As for my purple tutu? It stole the show, but also stole my heart. Purple was truly the colour of my adventure in Eltham. I may be known for my pink, but let’s face it, every colour has its time and place to shine.

Now, go on, dare to wear a tutu, explore your inner ballerina, and share your adventures with the world. Don’t forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com for my daily adventures. See you next time, darlings!
