Kingswood Calling! (Post 9200) 🩰💖

Hey everyone, it's your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger Emma here! Today's post is extra special because it's coming to you from the charming town of Kingswood, nestled in the heart of... well, actually I'm not sure where Kingswood is nestled in. I'm in a gorgeous hotel suite that has the best view of some gorgeous fields with a flock of fluffy sheep munching on the greenest grass you've ever seen! Honestly, if I could swap my life for theirs for a day, I think I would, apart from maybe missing out on all the ballet class and all those beautiful pink tutus. 😉

You know, this whole trip is such a dream come true! For those of you who missed my last post (number 9199 - make sure you go check it out!), I decided to go on a bit of a whirlwind tour around England. After all, why travel the world when you have so much beauty on your doorstep? It's always good to remind myself of my roots, right?

My trusty steed, (and no, I haven't traded in my dancing shoes for a horse yet, even if the train did feel like an endurance test) – carried me here this morning. A bit of a rough journey - imagine having to squeeze onto a tiny seat with all your belongings after being squeezed onto the train itself and still wearing your tutu.

Speaking of tutus, oh my, have you ever seen a tutu so beautiful?! It's this gorgeous German bodice, all intricate stitching and frills and this vibrant pink that's just begging to be twirled in. The colours remind me of all those beautiful pink sunset evenings we get in Derbyshire. I can't even tell you how many times I've caught myself staring at myself in the mirror in my hotel room, all dressed up and ready to dance, dreaming about hitting the stage.

But anyway, I'm going to stop before this turns into a full-blown gushing session! This weekend is packed. My itinerary is chock-full of activities that any true ballerina would drool over. On my list:

1. Ballet Class at the Kingswood Academy of Performing Arts: How could I be in a town like this and not take a class? These are some of my absolute favourite classes because it's a chance to meet and dance with different teachers, try new styles, and, let's be honest, feel like a kid again. I can't wait to pick their brains, find out all their best tips and tricks, and maybe even get inspired for my own class back home. (By the way, if you're ever in Kingswood, check out their website - it's full of fascinating information about the school).

2. A Gala performance at the Kingswood Theatre: There's nothing better than watching talented ballerinas, (or ballerinos!) gracefully dance on stage. Especially under the beautiful, ornate lights of a traditional theatre like this one. This theatre has an amazing history, apparently, and I've been told they have some spectacular costumes, some of which have actually been used in the Royal Opera! Can you believe it?

3. "Ballet on the Street" – an outdoor performance in the town square: Now, who needs a theatre stage when you can have a whole town square? This performance promises a captivating show showcasing contemporary ballet choreographed specifically for the unique layout of the square! This event will be a total spectacle, and I can't wait to share my favourite bits on social media! I’m imagining lots of fun interactions with other attendees as well.

4. Dinner at “The Swansong”: There's no way I could visit Kingswood without indulging in some of their famous dishes! They’re known for their fine dining restaurants and one that particularly piqued my interest was a new restaurant named, "The Swansong". As soon as I heard the name, I just knew it was the perfect place for my blog photos, don't you think?

5. A stroll through the park: Of course, no trip would be complete without a bit of exploration! I've heard all about this beautiful park with the swans and the ducks. I just can't wait to get my camera out and take some pictures. It’s just perfect for capturing some lovely scenery for my blog. Maybe I’ll get a cute picture of the swans on a paddleboat. I’ve already found the cutest little pink outfit that's just perfect for the occasion. (Just a little reminder to you all: You can’t be too matchy-matchy in life. Pink always goes with everything.)

*And of course, because there’s no room in my suitcase, (and I can’t squeeze all my dresses in!), I plan to buy some new outfits whilst I'm here! * There are several shops in Kingswood that I can’t wait to discover! You know, I might be getting a new pink tutu - something with that lovely sparkle… just the thing for my blog!

I’m definitely looking forward to showing you what I’ve picked.

It’s already late but before I get on with my day (it’s all starting tomorrow and I need to try to get some rest), I just want to leave you with this. You know I believe that the only rule you need to follow in life is that pink goes with everything! Even better is to embrace the spirit of ballet: its grace, its energy, its elegance, and, yes, its pink tutus! Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re too old to learn. Everyone deserves the opportunity to find something that makes them feel joy - something that inspires and makes them come alive.

Just remember to share your own ballet moments with me! Leave a comment below and tell me about your favorite things about ballet, or about the amazing experiences you’ve had that involve dance!

Right, I better get some rest – but you’ll hear from me tomorrow from Kingswood! I have a lot of exciting photos to show you…

Until next time,

Emma xx
