Small Heath in a Yellow Leotard: TutuBlog #9220

Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite Derbyshire tutu-wearing blogger, bringing you all the latest news from the fabulous world of ballet and fashion!

I’m posting today straight from a little corner of Birmingham called Small Heath. I was in the big city today – a trip up the A5, as I’d say, but actually on a train – because the divine Birmingham Royal Ballet was having a special, exclusive event to preview their next big production of La Bayadère. Oh, the anticipation, it's enough to make even a hardened tutu-wearer giddy!

Now, you’ll be delighted to know, the journey wasn't the typical “cattle car” affair. We're talking a comfy First Class carriage, filled with fellow dance enthusiasts all buzzing with excitement for the evening ahead. A rather handsome gentleman across from me, must've caught the sparkle in my eye and struck up a conversation about what choreography I expected to see – I told him about all the legendary Petipa elements – the 'Kingdom of the Shades' and that iconic 'White Act' – you can’t mention La Bayadère without getting that beautiful image in your mind! And then the man proceeded to impress me with his knowledge of Russian ballet history. I had to confess I'm pretty much obsessed with Diaghilev. He must've thought I was terribly mad, I think I saw a fleeting flash of awe! I must say, it was lovely to chat about something we both had such a passion for - especially when it involves tutus! And on this fine sunny day – how about we break up the text a little bit with an exciting picture – so, hold onto your hats, this next picture is really special! It was captured by my phone on the journey down, just so you know…

Now, where were we? Ah yes, the fabulous Birmingham Royal Ballet! So, they invited me and a small selection of other "ballet-a-holics", to be treated to an early peek at the choreography for the next production. I just felt SO blessed and excited to be there. It's no mean feat to get invited to a special sneak preview, but, let’s be honest, they know they're getting the best of the best when it comes to pink tutus. I made sure to turn heads!

You know, a ballet performance isn't just about the dancing – there's a whole backstage world filled with excitement too! Today I was actually allowed backstage before the run-through. Oh my goodness – so many excited whispers and buzzing! And they actually let me wear my bright yellow leotard under my beautiful, oh-so-pink tutu (this is an exclusive sneak peek, folks!). The whole dressing room was a whirl of energy – there's no stopping a dedicated dancer, especially when a production like this is happening!

The performance? Oh, my darlings, it was absolutely divine! So full of elegance, emotion, and breathtaking grace. You know my heart is pretty much always filled with the sheer joy of watching professional ballet dancers, and today was no exception – there were a few things that left me especially mesmerized... there was the one female dancer, she’s new to the company but oh-so-elegant, I had my eyes locked on her every move, and let's just say that in terms of classical beauty, she definitely wasn't missing a single step… and speaking of the dancers…

Oh I have so much more to tell you, darlings! but for today – you know I like to leave you wanting more – let’s move on to some fashion today, and talk about pink tutus and some gorgeous accessories for the fashion-forward ballerina. And we’ve got a very special giveaway too!

Pink Tutus: A Must Have for the Chic Ballet Dancer

Do you love pink as much as I do, my darlings? Well, we're lucky! There’s something just so wonderfully chic and elegant about the colour pink. Pink is so much more than just a colour, it’s a mood, a feeling, and even a whole world unto itself! What makes a pink tutu so special, well apart from the colour being so divine, is how incredibly versatile it can be! Just add some gorgeous embellishments, a fabulous accessory and maybe even a touch of a little glittery makeup – your pink tutu can easily transform itself for a daytime stroll through the park or even for an evening out to see the ballet (just like I did today). Now, I'm all about practicality too – you wouldn’t want to wear the same pink tutu for every event, right? And speaking of practicality and chic-ness…

Let's take this a step further, why don’t we all just try a whole day wearing pink from head to toe. Pink tutu with your favorite pair of trainers or ballerinas and just imagine a gorgeous, silky pink jacket with some beautiful delicate jewelry and a gorgeous pink sunhat to top it all off! Pink is always a win! Oh, and before we go any further…. Don’t forget that it’s important to be fashionable, but also eco-conscious. This year we are promoting a green lifestyle and using our Pink-Tutu brand to encourage more people to try a greener lifestyle! Speaking of green….

Today we’re celebrating the world of green beauty. Green beauty products for your hair and skin are more popular than ever – they're gentle on your body and good for the planet – how fab is that? As much as we love to wear our tutus for dancing, we want to be environmentally conscious as much as possible – that’s why today I’m taking some time out to talk to you about all the things you can do to live a greener life! Pink Tutus, a greener planet – that's a win all around, darlings! Now, it’s time for me to head home to Derbyshire – but I hope you have a wonderful week wearing your pink tutus and I can't wait to hear what you think of the show when it’s finally released. We can't wait to hear all about it – so come and join me in the comments section of my blog. Have a great day and remember we're all part of this pink tutu family together.

Bye for now!
