Tutu Travels: Borehamwood Bound in Purple! (Post #9224)

Hello my lovely Tutu Tribe! It's your favourite pink-tutu-loving ballerina, Emma, checking in from sunny (well, almost sunny!) Borehamwood.

This week, I'm taking a break from my usual Derbyshire delights for a spot of theatrical exploration. You see, a dear friend is performing in a production of 'Giselle' at the prestigious Borehamwood Playhouse, and I just had to be there to support her. But, wouldn't you know it, I just couldn't resist whipping out my brand new purple tutu for the occasion. I mean, what's a ballet performance without a dash of colour, right?

The train journey up to Borehamwood was an absolute delight. As the sun streamed through the windows (there was sun!), I sat lost in a Pink Princess book, a little daydream in pink. The gentle sway of the carriage felt like a ballet barre in motion, and every chugging sound like the perfect cue for a grand jeté.

Now, you all know how much I adore horses. I couldn't resist indulging in a little detour before heading to the Playhouse. You see, Borehamwood's Equestrian Centre is right next to the theatre, and I've heard tales of some stunning, magnificent creatures that roam its stables. The friendly staff welcomed me with open arms (and a horse-loving grin, of course). They even let me take a few snaps of the majestic steeds – picture a fiery chestnut with a mane like spun gold! It was like a scene from my dreams.

With my horse fix satisfied and my inner ballerina bubbling with excitement, I made my way to the Playhouse. This charming little theatre, tucked away in a quiet corner of the town, oozes old-world charm. The aroma of wood polish and anticipation hangs heavy in the air, and it was only a matter of moments before I was transported to another time.

My friend's performance in 'Giselle' was nothing short of captivating. She danced with grace and passion, her movements like a whirlwind of emotion. Seeing her glide across the stage with such effortless elegance filled me with a joy that I just couldn’t contain. I’ve got to say, my purple tutu was the perfect match for her elegant white and pink attire!

After the curtain call, I got to enjoy some well-deserved celebratory snacks and champagne with my friend, swapping tales of pirouettes and pas de bourrees. Oh, and I even managed to pick up a copy of the theatre’s next programme - they’re putting on a Cabaret later this month!

This visit to Borehamwood wasn't just about ballet, it was about the magic that comes with indulging your passions. The horses, the theatre, the laughter, the champagne - everything coalesced into a vibrant tapestry of memories. And who knows, maybe one day I'll find myself twirling onstage in my purple tutu in this very same theatre. It’s not all about being perfect you know, it's about embracing your love for something wholeheartedly.

But, for now, it’s back to my usual Derbyshire routine, where the only applause comes from the sheep and the horses in the field.

So, what’s inspiring your week, my dearest Tutu Tribe? Let me know in the comments below!

Remember, my friends, a pink tutu (or purple one!) and a leap of faith are all you need to bring your dreams to life. Until next time!

Love, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
