Oh, hello lovelies! Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad blogger extraordinaire, back with another day of adventures! It's been a busy week – teaching, practicing, and oh, did I mention, prepping for my major ballet trip? 🤫 You see, I'm headed to... (drum roll)... Frome, Somerset! Yes, you read that right! This quaint little town is nestled amongst the rolling hills and charming cottages, and it’s apparently bursting at the seams with dance enthusiasts! I'm so excited – I've already booked my carriage for a picture-perfect train journey and, oh my, I've been dreaming of the vintage tea rooms, quaint shops, and maybe even spotting a fox or two while exploring the local wildlife! 🦊 (You all know I'm a bit of a nature lover!)
Now, I can't tell you what the reason for this grand ballet escapade is quite yet... I want it to be a beautiful surprise! Let's just say, my favourite tutu – the one with all the shimmering pink feathers - has been patiently waiting in my suitcase for this moment, and a certain "grand" performance might be on the cards... wink, wink! 😏
But before I even reached Frome, this ballet adventure was full of delightful twists and turns, worthy of a tutu-twirling symphony of fun! First off, picture this – yours truly, in the early morning hours, perched precariously on a charming white horse, its mane like a waterfall of silken silver, all while clutching a large suitcase filled with… what else?… tutus, obviously! Yes, my darling friends, I went horseback riding – in Derbyshire, the green and rolling hills my home, a landscape straight out of a fairy tale. You know, sometimes I feel like a princess, all dolled up in my ballerina attire, ready to conquer the world, or at least, a quiet lane with a trusty steed.
And let me tell you, riding to the railway station with the wind whipping through my hair, wearing my most delightful pink-sequined leotard… that’s pure ballet bliss! My mind was flooded with dreams of cobbled streets, charming tea shops, and perhaps even a delightful vintage store for a little tutu treat… I mean, one can never have too many tutus, right? 🎀
Speaking of treats, the train ride itself was nothing short of a feast for the eyes – beautiful countryside, quaint villages whizzing past, all from my plush little seat, right next to a window brimming with the most magical afternoon sunlight. It's no wonder I adore traveling by train – there’s nothing like the gentle rhythm of the tracks, the sound of wheels, and the feeling of escape! I even managed to gracefully execute a few twirls in the train carriage, while maintaining a dignified posture… wink, wink! The lovely conductor even clapped politely. I am a master of ballet etiquette, you see… 😉
And now… I’m officially in Frome! I've checked into my delightful, utterly charming B&B, The Buttercup Inn. This place is practically a vintage fairy tale come true – quaint floral wallpaper, beautiful antique furniture, and a warm, comforting atmosphere that makes me want to twirl like a ballet dancer in a beautiful storybook! It also boasts a rather grand fireplace and, let’s just say, an absolutely divine collection of teacups - I've been planning out my tea time attire for the last few hours!
The sun is setting, and my toes are starting to ache just a little (from all that twirling, of course!). The streets of Frome are alive with people bustling to and fro, all with bright smiles, and it feels as if there's a dance in every step, a musical note in every conversation. I think this ballet-themed adventure is off to a delightful start… and, oh, there might be a little, very secretive surprise for you lovely readers tomorrow... a sneak peek at my latest acquisition. I wonder if it’s pink... 🤫
